Switch Nintendo Switch 2

Never understood why people would rush out and pay premium price for a console with limited options straight up.
Fear of missing out syndrome?

Be interesting to see the reviews on it.

Console prices seldom drop to any significant degree and $700 isn't going to be felt by some.

The new Xbox and Playstation consoles came out years ago and they're still more expensive, then they decided to raise the prices again. If anything Switch 2 is the better deal when it comes to consoles and while also being a handheld.

It’s still a premium price and I know they don’t really drop in price but I don’t see why the rush to go and grab it with limited game options upon launch. It’s a fairly disappointing library for a launch this hyped.

What I'm saying is, it's not really a 'rush'... I'm grabbing one on Thursday, I'll play some Mario Kart and some of my old Switch games that ran like arse. I'm not going to notice the money gone, so why wait?

Alright money bags.

Hopefully there's more first party stuff in the near future, it's a little lean for those of us who don't intend on using it for multiplats.

Also kind of baffling to me that some of the first party upgrades aren't a launch thing - would have thought Mario Party would be essential to launch with the camera.
I was getting excited that it's release week and then I sort of sat and thought, well I'm actually just getting 1 new game (Mario Kart).

Pretty keen for it, but yeah it's slim pickings. Crazy that not even a simple Mario Party upgrade will make release.

Also don't remember what the Switch launch was like but I find it crazy there are no other colour options for joycons either. Comes with blue and red, and you can buy... blue and red.

Its not an amazing launch line up admittedly, although is that entirely unusual for Nintendo? I think from memory the 3DS launch was very underwhelming, but of course took off eventually.

I would've loved Metroid Prime 4 to be a launch title personally, not sure what's up with that game, they always say 2025 but no actual launch date at all.

Still, if Mario Kart World is more than just some gimmicky bits added thats something and personally I'm getting Yakuza 0. Never played it so playing the new enhanced version (timed exclusive) I figure why not.
Also got Split Fiction to play with the missus.

Don't get me wrong, I wholeheartedly agree; my initial post was lamenting the same.

I merely didn't really understand the 'rush' comment. Buying it now vs buying it 12 months from now when it has more available content is really only a consideration if you don't have the disposable income. It's not going to be significantly cheaper in the medium term, let alone the long term.

Yeah I pretty much had the same thought as this. Sure there will be a better library in 12 months and it’s a disappointing launch lineup but I figured I could wait and pay the same price later or grab one this week and get an extra 12 months use from it.

Got a text from JB Hi-Fi today saying that they’ll be open from 7am on Thursday, I’ll probably head down around 8:30am to collect it.

Also how long are we expecting Mario Kart World to download?

(Roughly, I know it’s based on internet speed and such).

It’s 21.9gb so shouldn’t be too long on a decent connection.

It’s common across the board - The idea is usually to “soft” launch, the holidays is where you cash in on having a library ideally.

Switch 2 - Mario Kart World with DK Bananza coming a little later
Switch 1 - BOTW with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a little later
PS4 - Infamous second Son and Knack (lol)
PS5 - Demon Souls (i think Sony funded this so it counts) and Sackboys big adventure
Xbox one - Project spark and Kinect Sports

and so on

Got the same message. Assuming that confirms my Switch arrived on time despite a later pre order.

I feel you. I'm also quite excited for the Gamecube games for Nintendo Online since I never had one. Plus my family are big on Mariokart so it is worth it for that

I had a GameCube but am still looking forward to the games coming back, I never had Zelda Wind Waker though.

I’ve also told me nephew I’m picking up the new Mario Kart tomorrow and now he wants his mum to bring him over to visit so he can play it.

Thats cool. I loved the old star wars clone wars game wonder if that'll be on it.

EB seems adament that every pre-order is locked and loaded ready to go on the day.

A far cry from the US situation with Walmart etc cancelling preorders for supposedly various reasons.
