Dont think its coping these changes reflect that the club thinks it can still make finals where many think we should be prioritizing for the future.
Some of us want to win and think playing Cleary, Mitchell, Buller etc helps with that more than playing some pretty lucky older guys.

Wicks replaces Roberts.
It should have been Bice however Roberts has COVID/RSV .

Hanily comes in for CC. Rewarding form in the Ressies.

Cunningham for Mitchell. No brainer.

Francis for Hamling . No brainer. Francis is better at both ends.

Mills for Pete L . Injury based. Probably pushes Adams to the Sub spot.

Lloyd is absolutely on thin ice
As soon as Errol is back I think he's in trouble.
Unfortunately we don't have anyone to replace Lloyd and his Tog and 2 way running.

Hanily’s form in the ressies hasn’t been good.

He got a few cheap goals last week - but his impact on general play was negligible.

I’ll die on the hill of Cleary being shafted unfairly.

Personally I think too many "fans" have drunk the coolaid and watched too much media over analysing everything.

The aim is too win as many games as possible.
By any means.

It goes both ways it seems, because I don't really get the point you were trying to make, either LOL.

You compared Rowy & Sheldrick's numbers, but they play different roles, so their numbers aren't really comparable.

You then compared Sheldrick's numbers from the last 3 games to Rowy's from the last 80 games, as though they're comparable at all. In Sheldrick's last 3 games he's been a mildly decent butcher. In Rowy's last 80 games he's been one of our very best players across that span, including finishing on the podium in the B&F twice, including once in a GF year, breaking the club's all-time season tackles record twice, and being a top 10 centre clearance player in the comp last year en route to a Best Clubman award.

So not having a go at you at all, I guess I'm just not sure what you're getting at considering the discussion started with whether Sheldrick should be sub or not.
I'd say they play similar roles its just Sheldrick has a better talent of getting the pill.

Thanks for the explanation, your POV makes more sense

I don't watch footy media. I want to win.

I disagree with rushing players back from injury.

I disagree with dropping players in better form than a significant chunk of the side, who somehow escape weeks and weeks of abysmal displays.

We have nothing to lose build for next season. Richmond should win anyway.

Least Dattoli should be in next week that’s a positive
There is a different between wishing for something and what will happen in reality

We can wish for Cleary to play on ball now that the season is effectively over

But that ain't gonna happen

The Tigers have been playing a very honest brand of footy all year & it’s just fatigue that has run through their young talent.
If we cheat once again this will not be pretty.
This will also show how far behind Yze Cox’s coaching is.

The Cleary one I don't get at all, as I think he's been a valuable contributor and an important piece in our best footy this year.

Re the rest, I do wonder how much of it is the coaches basically saying it is up to the senior players to get themselves out of this hole, and that rather than expecting the kids to do it, and it getting ugly, and thus hurting the kids' confidence, let the senior players knuckle down and figure this out for themselves.
I would've kept Clearly ahead of Corey, but it's not much skin off our nose omitting him because his role hasn't really been effective enough in winning nor losing - so in terms of managing a young player who's not even playing his natural position, it doesn't bother me. It's a bit of a stale role in this team at the moment. I'd rather he plies his midfield craft in the vfl as an investment for next year.

I think you're spot on with your second point. Need to trust our senior players to find their identity and pull this team over the line. Without that, whether it's Clearly or Hanily as the small forward, is negligible.

I just hope Cox isn't pushing shit up hill with his game plan, because according to his presser he's pretty much set on how he wants us to play. All well and good, but if it isn't effective then it's just going to dig this list into a hole. I worry he's ditching what is actually an effective game plan because of a sub par GF performance.

Total of four wins so far this year

So mixing it up, making some pro-active moves leading to better chances of winning more games next year and on

Rather than the status quo and the listless performances of some players who won't/shouldn't be part of the best 23 for finals next year and on

First time in a bit we'll have a two tall forward line. Hopefully means a bit more mobility and less bombing it, Corey and Campbell will be important as that link in the chain. Bice fortunate to stay in but given florents form struggling to think who replaces him.

Great to see Cunners and Wicks back, tiges smalls can be a handful so their inclusions should give us some more stability. Agree on Lloyd being dropped but I think Caesar puts it well, perhaps Cox is wanting to have as much experience in as possible and giving them trust.

What I do want out of this game though is alot less dirty ball from last week. Did well to win clearances but so many of them were ineffective not into our teammates advantage, need to absorb their pressure and be clean on the inside.

Thoughts
Lloyd must have be holding Cox ransom with some material. How!??
Defence looks heaps better. More mobile. Should allow us to launch off half back with more zip.
Francis is a good in (never thought I would say this) but he should be able to impact more contests and bring the ball to ground. Ladhams and McLean aren’t mobile enough so never thought it a good idea to have both in the team. Injuries force this though.
Mills should have some ok conditioning now, I would love for cox to push Heeney forward 70% of the game and isolate him.
Overall, I’m content with the changes despite head scratcher with Lloyd.

Why the hell are we persisting with Lloyd?
Why weren't we told about Ladhams in the injury report?
Why did he pick Francis? We know he's not good enough, why not give Buller a go?

I worry that Cox, like Horse, has marked his favourites, and will stick with them no matter what. We could be stuffed.
Ladhams: I'd say something happened at training today, or he's pulled up sore and they didn't want to risk it.
