I don't blame Ken for sticking around.

I blame our weak as piss club. He is getting paid whether he is coaching this year or not. Why can' we just give Carr a nice long preseason starting now?

Fraking pathetic club now. And it will never go back to being successful. We are now just another mediocre club in a league with too many teams.
I blame Donna do ya wanna, she’s running the whole show.

Makes me laugh the way Hinkley said I'm not leaving Port like he's doing the club a favour by honouring his contract.

My first thought when I heard him say that was, he's worried that another bad loss will force to pull the trigger.

He's put it out too the footy world and media imparticular, I'm doing the right thing by Port which makes the club look bad if they sack him.

It’s the same vibe with his “don’t worry! I still have the energy!” messaging, as if the groundswell of criticism and loathing towards him relates to his desire and not his terminal lack of acumen.

I think Ken should stick around and go out without any glory, it would be unfair for Josh to take over yet and have to deal with the negatives for the rest of the season, he deserves a fresh start next year after he has been able to influence who he has on his coaching group and working with the recruitment team without Ken's influence. This season is shot to pieces anyway, just hope we don't have to see it out with a Crows premiership. Nothing really to be gained by him taking Over now.

Koch has no interest in sacking him, isn’t that obvious by now?
Extremely obvious. I've never said it wasn't. If you read my post I actually said that Koch hasn't got the gonads to sack Hinkley.

Koch said he wanted Hinkley to be a ten year coach and once that was achieved doubled down and said he wanted Hinkley to be a twenty year coach at Port Adelaide. That's why the narrative is that Hinkley has decided that this will be his last season and it is up to Hinkley when he leaves.

What an incredibly selfless guy.
Total team player.
He's bled for the club bled the club dry such is his passion and devotion.

AFL HoF for him this coming week - in fact maybe even elevated to Legend, since he's Port's greatest ever coach.

We were hit by a couple of “perfect sh*tstorms” since 2017. It took too long since then for the Crows to stop sucking. It helped our “stability”. Board and happy-clappers are extremely narrow-minded.

__
In 2017, first we extended Hinkley’s contract (which, by the way, rendered Koch’s offseason tantrum useless). Then, the Crows lost the GF and pressed the self-destruction button. This allowed us to just cruise through the next seasons.

When that was about to end, covid came. We were the best club to adjust to the conditions. The Crows were the worst. We extended Hinkley’s contract again, just to throw away, some weeks later, our best shot at the flag since the early 2000’s.

__
The good results during the covid seasons (despite the Finals failures), along with West Lakes remaining an ugly mess, convinced our Board that we were on the right track. They all decided that the period between 2015 and 2019 was absolutely irrelevant (and many people simply accepted this BS unreservedly).

Thus, in their eyes: the 2022 season became an exception; and getting eliminated in straight sets in 2023 was an accident (despite our Finals record since 2015 being 2-5 at the time). Extending Hinkley’s contract once again was only fair.

__
Now, it seems, another storm is coming. Hinkley is leaving exactly when the Crows are improving. Still, even though Hinkley will probably escape from it, this new storm might hit Koch hard.

I’m not putting too much hope on it, though. Con artists may be incompetent for many things, but they are good in getting away from messy situations. For some reason, the happy-clappers love Koch more than they love Hinkley. It’ll be even harder to get rid of him.

Come on, people.

It is also his desire though.

Straight up does not give a **** about being a good coach or self improvement or reckoning with his performances beyond being ticked off that he has to do press conferences.

Constantly saying he has the energy to go on is his guilty conscience knowing that he's been slack as **** for a decade.

It doesn’t need much energy to do nothing…
