Harry Cunningham

Player Profile

Harry Cunningham is one of the quickest players at the Sydney Swans, is clean by hand and foot and can play in defence, on a wing and in the forward line. The 2012 draftee was in blistering form over the opening seven rounds of the 2019 campaign, before injury limited him to just two games over the remainder of the season, so expect him to be hungry for a comeback 2020 year. Draft history: 2012 Rookie Draft selection (Sydney) No. 93; 2012 AFL Draft rookie elevation (Sydney) selection No. 107

Harry Cunningham

DOB: 06 December 1993
DEBUT: 2012
DRAFT: 2012
RECRUITED FROM: Turvey Park (NSW)/NSW-ACT U18/Wagga (NSW)

I reckon Heeney’s score levelling goal in the QF would give it a run for its money.
I don't think they are close IMO.

Heeney's was very exciting but it was a pretty standard 50m or so kick that bounced/skidded the rest of the way to get the desired outcome. Massive moment in the context of the game, sure. Thrilling to watch as it rolled on through, absolutely. Difficulty, not that high. I would back the majority of our team to get the same result if they tried it. I don't think the majority of our team would even try to replicate Cunningham's goal because they wouldn't be able to do it LOL. (Which is no shame - required an incredible mix of work rate & skill.)

There was nothing especially difficult about Cunningham’s actual kick for goal. What was impressive was the run to be involved several times in the play. But it wasn’t an individual effort. More a great team goal (with a starring role).

I rate Heeney’s actual kick as much harder than Cunningham’s. Plus there was the perfectly timed fend on the Giant (Perryman?) to create space, the clean gather of the tap from Papley, and the very quick decision making to launch the long kick. And, just like Cunningham’s, it involved crucial contributions from team mates, culminating in Papley making that contest.

Agree about Heeney, especially the brilliant, timely fend off. Pretty sure it was Whitfield.

Heeneys goal from 65m out to level the game close to full time coupled with a perfect fend on the All Australian and super quick Giants defender Whitfield was without doubt goal of the year!

Harry, I’m glad you didn’t listen to The King!

Welcome back.

Great to have you back on the park. We missed you.

Me too 🤣 I didn’t see them both fitting, but guess we need more than a tigers game.

I also thought he was out longer

They looked good together this game. Will Roberts replace either of them vs Port? Don't be too sure.

Yeah, when I think about the Pies game and Hill and Elliott having it all their own way. Love to see Wicksy, with total conviction, cracking into Elliott at 100mph.

Surely Roberts isn't vying for either of their roles. People go on about McLeans turning circle... Roberts isn't much better in my opinion.
