Looking at the form thus far and who is in contention.

I'm keeping votes so far in my own way and have Max Gawn in front but in terms of the Brownlow he might be 50/50 in voting.

Here is my voting for 5-1 this season. Gawn will be 50/50 Xerri might be interesting but I think the mids willl steal his votes.

Dawson has some competition from Rankine but think he will get the higher votes more often.

I've done some adjustments on how I'd expect umpires to vote on my data

  • Players that scored a bag of goals went up 10 points
  • No players from heavy losses scored votes irrespective of score
  • Close scoring went to most goals/more prominent/popular player (Jamie Elliot, and Jeremy Cameron on two occasions)
  • Players from losing teams needed to have a significantly higher score to attract votes
  • Rucks/Defenders required outstanding games with significantly higher scores to attract votes
Here are the results so far (Excluding all games this round except Port Adelaide and GWS)

Incredible that Hawthorn are on 8 wins but wouldn't have anyone in the top 30 in the brownlow
Will Day would have been on 9 votes by round 5 I think. It gets harder to pick the best players when I had 8 players between 50 and 55 points for the game.

Crazy this tread was just made, I came in here looking for it or to make one as it looks very tight.

I would have Dawson in front as I think he'll have the most 3 so far. Smith been very consistent but I can see him having more 1,2s

Interesting if the umps after all last year backlash will look to vote on impact a bit more then stats, an over correction wouldn't surprise me.

One thing that gets overlooked at the end of the year I think is how a player performs in last qtr in a close game. Like Dawson Friday night wasn't great but when the game was up for grabs he was and could get him a vote with average stats. Then a player may have had 35 but most in the last half in a blowout win.

I had games where Rozee had 89 points and best Collingwood player had 55 points. Despite this I gave 3 to Sidebottom, Cameron for 2 and Rozee for 1.

For close scores I went for the favourites.

Bailey started slow but come on strong as has Holmes.

Jeremy Cameron probably gets 3 votes against Port, as does Elliot for his bag of goals. Same as Rachele with 5 goals although it's a fight between him and Dawson.

If I'm an ump I'd probably give it to Rachele.

Is that the coll v port game this year ? If so your votes are insane , no way Rozee is getting a vote in a 15 goal loss and Cameron wasn't even in the top 10 players on the ground. Houston was best on.

Did you read what I said? Stat wise he had more stats across the board than any other player but that I would give him one brownlow vote but likely umpires none

Has Daicos even been the best for Collingwood?
I don't think so. Sidebottom leading Pies votes.

Nick Daicos the difference today with a big last quarter. Kicked a goal and scored the behind that won the game for the pies.

Will be in the votes today.

Would Dillon have gone to Geelong to beg Bailey to behave if he wasnt top 3 in the Brownlow votes?

I think Bailey Smith will struggle in the second half of the year with taggers. Was found out against west coast. Umpires will also be aware of his poor disposal.
