Premiership Full Forward, Billy Frampton

Is this even worth a thread?

Billy is worth more to Collingwood than other teams, as he plays a role within our system and plays it well.

His worth internally for us, would far outweigh his worth externally.

Its not a matter of lowballing him.
He is happy, he has a role in a contending team and the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Not sure what other clubs would come hunting him but if he wants out, no problem.
He played a part in getting us a flag, so I would wish him well.
However, I dont think he would be leaving.

Maybe double premiership player Billy Frampton after this year....uuugh, not a nice thought for the rest of us

Has been super for the Pies this season, particularly when Moore was out injured.

Bombers would love him as a genuine full-back they have lacked since Hurley/Hooker retired/switched into a key forward with success
he's not going anywhere 2 year extension at the Pies you'd suspect

Shame they're already paying McKay 1 mil a year to do that

Without Moore , Maynard , Howe , Quaynor , Perryman , Houston helping out would Frampton be the defender he is today
the first 4 pretty much control the backline and make his job so much easier
Moore isn't even that good anymore Frampton actually has to cover for Moore at times not the other way around

Very true, the onfield coaching esp Howe lets us mix and match to cover injuries.

Frampton has gone from being pretty conservative defender to actually venturing off a little.

They all have to run the patterns but he's really started taking the initiative about choosing when to switch.

Not brilliant in the air but decent, and can handle the ball at ground level which helps defending the chaos ball.

I'd never say he was better than Moore but Moore is playing hurt I feel and might still be carrying something like last year, and Frampton is definitely in career best form.

One of those guys that just needed a bit of of confidence.

Thats where money really helps, there's the cap and the soft cap but I'm sure we find ways to counsel and support players off field and outside those limits so they are git and happy and it matters.

Moore might not be as good as he was or is playing hurt but his experience and smarts along with Howe and others directing frampton and others in where to stand and who to cover assists Framton to cover his man and stops framptons foward to leading to spots and allows frampton to defend in area's that suit framptons strengths

Take him out of Collingwood and into another team and this does not happen and he gets exposed
We see this with young defenders when experienced players are out of the side

Geelong pretty good at taking a C and lifting them up to a B eg Tuohy.

Scott is a unlikeable personality but he usually improves his boys.

Dimma the same, good with the difficult personalities I thought.

Mostly agree. Framps has been v good this year but you wouldn’t dare build a backline around him.

Sometimes a player just fits a team.
He had opportunities at both Adelaide and Port and just never managed to claim a position. His move to Collingwood, has really fitted him, and I think he fits in with their backline dynamics.
Moving to another team might mean he doesn't work out.
Hes a good match for Collingwood and it would be in both their best interests to keep the band together.
Would be silly for him to move at this point.

It has been reported that his first contract was 4 years not 3. This takes him through 2026 at the pies. I remember supporting his trade but at the time 3 years seemed long. Journo was fox sports Ben Cotton. On X. So increase those grandfather deals, he’s contracted. 😊

Nah just pick him up for nothing next year when out of contract
