+1 for Hustwaite over Mackenzie to replace Worpel.

Mackenzie is the better talent and classier ball user, but Hustwaite is the better ball winner and distributor which is the part of Worpel’s role we most urgently need to fill.

Otherwise Newcombe will default to that role and we’ll lose a lot of what he can provide as a ball user. Crom will also just focus on shutting him down.

Would have gone Mackenzie myself, but you make a pretty persuasive argument for Huss!

For mine
In - Scrmshaw, Watson
Out - CJ, Worpel

I’d have Maginess in, was one of our better players last time we played a night game in Tas.

Frenchy had a stinker IMO at Box Hill. I'd let him build in the 2s while he gets confidence back in his body. Hasn't been the same since he broke his hand.

Great interview Newmo with one of our players I don’t know that much about, thank you.

Made me wince when he was talking about still having those leg pains early in the week. I did my ACL many years ago but for those who’ve come back from a broken leg (and I know his was a particularly bad double break) is that pain just a fact of life when you return that will always be with you or does it tend to eventually settle down as more months pass?

Lol everyone saying we need to reward the players in form at BH, but when their Fav doesn't preform they still want him in above the players that are in form - classic.

MaCK got burnt defensibly, and I am guessing that why he was sent back to BH. Whatever the reason he was sent back he didn't fix it, so to pick him above a couple of others is playing the Favs game, imo.

Footy Press. “NO Worp’s. END OF DAYS, OMG THEY ARE GONE, HAWKS WONT WIN AGAIN. EVER!”

My take. “So I’m going with Wiz and HH. Who’s with me?”

Newc, Nash and Ward got the job done last week from the opening few minutes after Worps got his cork.

I'd err on bringing HH in and prefer to add Finn to the midfield rotation and outbid the forward line with Wiz returning.

Out : Worpel (inj), CJ
In : Wizard, Breust

Edit: Scrim may also get a call up at the expense of Shammy.

Breust, on VFL showing, is not getting a game. I feel the game has past him by.

Any chance we just play Finn in his best position to replace Worps rather than bringing in Huss or Frenchy?

Wiz in for Worps and move Finn in centre. I’d really like to see if he can perform in there like he does when he goes back to Box Hill.

I’d like to see Scrimmers back too, but for who I’m not sure.🤔

If all goes to plan and people pass their fitness tests.

IN
Jack Scrimshaw, Nick Watson
OUT
Changkuoth Jiath, Finn Maginness

BACKLINE
Hardwick - Barrass - Battle
Impey - Scrimshaw - Amon

MIDFIELD
D’Ambrosio - Ward - Butler
Meek - Newcombe - Worpel

FORWARDLINE
Moore - Gunston - MacDonald
Ginnivan - Chol - Watson

INTERCHANGE
Ramsden - Nash - Weddle - Mitchell - Morrison

I am unsure of who could be the right sub candidate. Those who are a chance for it would be Morrison, Mitchell or Butler.

I believe Scrimshaw may miss this week however, Jiath sub and only Watson for Maginness.

Edit:

Key matchups

DEF -
Barrass > Thilthorpe
Battle > Fogarty
Scrimshaw > Tex

When either are forward
Hardwick/Seamus/Impey > Rankine / Rachele

Keays > Amon

MID -
Nash > Dawson (at stoppage)
H2H otherwise, Meek v ROB important.

FWD -
Butts > Ramsden
Worrell > Gunston
Keane > Chol

Michalanney > Watson
Laird > Moore
Milera > Ginnivan
Hinge > MacDonald
Worpel for Mackenzie or Huss. Probably the former.

Morrison is not a candidate for the Sub. He set the tone early for us last week. He is a starting wingman and our most in form one currently.
Who goes sub? Cant see any other options unless Jiath stays. Or dreadfully Mitchell or Butler.

I agree with you but he’s such a perfect fit it’s frustrating.

Edit: Worpel out and Mackenzie or Huss as sub?

Good points.

Although Nash looked better in his second game back, and Ward is playing well in the middle, you don’t want Newk playing Worps role at the expense of his offensive plays.

My main reservation with Huss is that he hasn’t been able to translate his form in the seniors, but no denying he is in good form and a better fit to come in for Worps.

Hust was taking Nash’s spot last time he was in the side. That role is a lot more defensively focused and probably not what he’s used to playing.

This time he’d be playing a role more aligned with his strengths and getting the benefit of Nash holding the space for him.

We look so much better as a side when Nash can get first hands to the ball, with worps out I wonder if we have set a challenge for him to hunt for the ball as much as block.

If he can build some confidence winning the ball it will be a night and day shift in the midfield.

Worps is an odd one. I constantly curse him when he plays but feel like we miss him when he doesn't.

If he is missing, Finn probably keeps his spot

In: Wiz, Scrimshaw, HH/Frenchy
Out: Worpel, CJ and Butler

Butler stiff but if Wiz is back, not sure there is a spot unless he's chosen over HH and Frenchy

Sammy still got that old fashion coaching nous of not giving away anything to the oppo yesterday when asked about the Wiz ……. “you’ll have to find out tmrw when the team is announced”!

Doggies at the start of the week already reporting that Darcy is playing this week.
