and all the other kids left to other clubs, some went to Springwood and others to coorparoo and sherwood.
They still don't have that natural stream of good juniors like grange, sherwood, morningside etc. Not too long ago, I remember they would come runners up in 14's and 16's div 1 for two years in a row, then eventually win 16's div 1, beating a Palmy team with the likes of Ethan Read playing. Seriously, how does a club go from that to where they are now.

The gap is enormous.

Coorparoo have added plenty of talent to the side that lost the D1 GF and will likely finish 12th with a low % this year.

Sitting at 57% and they pinched 2 points off Palmy and saved themselves a hiding in Rd 1 by closing their ground.
Not sure it is that big, especially with the lower salary cap in Div 1, Noosa and Maroochydore are competitive after coming up, teams coming up from from Div 2 into Div 1 always struggle and head straight back to a lower grade

Noosa lost every game after coming up in the QAFL lol. And a team that adds a stack of VFL and QAFL talent after making back-to-back grand finals, will come second last and give Mt Gravatt their closest game in 2 years. If this isn't a 'huge gap' idk what is

How did that practice match v Mayne go last year?

Mt Gravatt lost 204-8 sherwood last year and 220-13 to Maroochydore, and have about what 1/3 of the senior team of last year. The worse team to ever step foot on a Qafl field lost by 50 in a trial match lol, what is your point
You were saying it’s a massive difference between QAFL & QFA Div 1, there were suggestions your team is above dropping down because you had a preseason game with UQ but left out another practice match result v Mayne. Just thought you could perhaps take all results into account.

Look, you’ve come on here to get some sort of validation about the plight of your team/club and think it’s getting unfair criticism. Thats fair enough. However your senior team has lost the last 5 games by 98, 140, 92, 66 & 117 points following as you admit was the worst ever QAFL team last year. Thats uncompetitive in any senior comp in Australia.

However if you believe Mt Gravatt should stay in QAFL, keep your coach & players and fight it out again next year then I’m supporting you to take that proposal to your next club committee meeting and make that recommendation and see how you go.

Best of luck with it.

That's a little unfair, if you scroll a bit, I clearly said "And the thing is, I believe Mt Gravatt should drop down to Div 1". No juniors, little money, poor signings, nothing coming through. Although one bad year shouldn't mean curtains, two winless years definitely should. And once again if you scroll up I have stated I am a Coops fan lol. And the practice result vs mayne was last year when they had about what 12 games of 200+ scores?

If they won't drop the Devils from QAFLW, then The Vultures have a decade left in the QAFL.

they have established what they consider acceptable.
would i be correct in saying they wanted a higher competition level similar to the sanfl or wafl? since the AFL want a national reserves, southport would drop and make a new comp? or was that a rumour i heard

Think you will find AFLQ will place clubs where ever they wish to play.
True but besides from getting smashed they are doing everything else perfectly, they dont owe money and players are coming back slowly and their gaining more money then loosing. if you asked a lot of the people that left, some of them were going to but others didnt leave from their own choice, they HAD no other choice because the board at the time were so focused on a QFAW Divsion 2 womens team rather then their semi-professional state team.

Southport will never play in the QAFL. How are all the current clubs meant to compete with Southport, which reports 3 million in revenue every year? I remember only something like 3 years ago they beat broady 143-10 or something in a trial match, where broady went on to win the QAFL flag. And i reckon they would keep the majority of their stars in Crossley, dawson etc.. as dont think they would be too keen to go and play Suns reserves to stay VFL level.

Im actual interested to know what started that downfall. Did many of them make it to 2024 preseason, or did the majority decide before 2024 that they will be gone?

the culture was terrible and it got to about 2024 january when big names like Jonah Licth, Joel Leahy, Todd Carbone, Harry Milford, Daine Macdonald and Dylan Smith all left because there was no coach, no president and no conversations were had, then young kids like Wyatt Greenaway, Marcus Khoo, Bailey Tome, Jake Torny and Jackson Griffiths all left. leaving the club with about 15 players before the season and then the put a new coach and new board in and had to just sign as many people as possible thats why the expectations on senior spots was so low because no one had to fight for a spot similar to richmond last year. hopefully they get big signings to put pressure on selection

Southport QAFLW side is the same name. An absolute mile ahead of the rest.

I think more a reflection of how much many clubs have fallen away. Southport have done really well since coming in and true to form made sure they weren’t incl a team in qaflw just for shits and giggles. They have been fair dinkum from day 1 and good on their football admin for paying due respect to the women’s program. Not all qaflw clubs do sadly and it shows
I think that it’s very early to equate the women’s program with the men’s program though.

I’d argue though that Southport will only get better every year moving forward. Played with 37/50 points last weekend and have a dozen reserves who would be seniors at every other club and probably be in better players. Well coached, resourced and club obviously puts effort and time into their program.
