Cant believe im saying Finlayson in but he offers more than a resting ruck up forward. Lorenz deserves his crack at the expense of the unlucky Liddy who was okay on debut. Burton has to go and I like the look of the physicality Lai brings. Something I think we lack a little.

As much as I hate to say it you’ve got to get Lord or Finlayson in for Sweet. Whitlock nowhere near ready.

Lorenz should play ahead of Mead.

Hard to make too many changes.

Jackson, Liddy, Mead, all did a job. Although, I agree with the criticism re Mead, he actually got more of the ball this game.

Aliir might miss with injury. Ratugolea, BZT both took knocks but should be ok.

Think we need to drop a ruck, but both competed hard. Guess it’s Finlayson or Sweet.

Still found the two ruck inclusion rather odd. Gawn still had 36 hitouts 8 marks (5 contested) 23 disposals 20 contested possesions and 7 intercepts 7 score involvements. Sweet was rucking against Van Rooyen most of the day and was shit as a forward. Surely we only play one next week seeing as Sydneys ruck stocks arent the greatest

The positive is we reduced Gawns heatmap to resemble Esavas current size:

Sweet goes out for one of the tall forwards unfortunately because Lord and Finlayson aren’t screaming pick me but with Lukoisus still out and Whitlock not ready, one of Finlayson or Lord will get the nod.

Also wouldn’t be surprised if one of Liddy or Jackson makes way for Boak because Port still believes a soon to be 37 year old to be in their best 22.

Mead ain’t getting the axe as much as I want him to because they would have done so already.

I thought Mead was reasonable against Melbourne. Then again I also thought Liddy had a reasonable debut.

I would not advocate dropping anyone until we get a fitness report on Aliir and Horne-Francis. Neither looked 100% nearing the end of yesterday's game.

JHF should be fine, he wanted to get back on the field after getting his shoulder strapped but the Ken told him to chill and spent the rest of the game on the bench.

Aliir though might not pull up for the game this week against the Swans. Looked very ginger and could barely move let alone run.

Probably better if they'd had an actual forward down there rather than a ruckman cosplaying as one.

Dumbasses love to say "how could insert second ruckman of choice do worse than Finlayson or Lord?" Well Finlayson averages 10 touches and 0.7 goals, Lord averages 7 touches and 0.9 goals. Not only were both Sweet and Vis were below those marks yesterday, but in fact both put up significantly worse numbers than what they do when they play as #1 ruck. So not only did they not do better than Finlayson or Lord, but they made each other worse too. This happens literally every time we try it. Literally every time.

Neither Finlayson or Lord are stars but both are better than going in a man down by playing a second ruck. Playing two rucks doesn't make our forwards better, but it does make our rucks worse.

I was at the game and can say with certainty that neither Lever nor May were concerned with the resting ruck up forward. May was watching George and Lever was trying to block his leading lane.

Mead has been average for weeks and lucky to be in the team, but yesterday wasn't his worst game. I thought he was solid defensively as well. I'd still prefer to see Lorenz be given a run, more upside to his game.

I agree. It is no surprise that Mitch did better with an extra tall up there that actually used his body (even if just a little).

I think Soldo is better suited to that role than Sweet though.
