I think there will be a few changes this week, because of the short break and Wet weather football.

Duds for Switta
I think it will be Fyfe for Raz (although I'd go Johnson as sub instead)
I'd also do OMac for Draper

I want to squeeze O'Driscoll in but would only do it if Sharp is sore. If they decide to rest Darcy he'll be in.

Banners will be dropped as soon as Worner or Walker are ready.

There is no way they drop Darcy, they are getting game time into him after a slow start fitness wise.
Worner is already playing, Banners has been good the last few weeks ,Very good.

Failed to deliver is a bit harsh, he is holding his own without being damaging on rebound. As long as he is doing that, they will likely persevere and get games in. Not saying its right, but you can understand it.

There is history of defenders carried to some degree short term whilst learning the craft getting the base games in as they are long term replacements for key personnel. We did it for Scott Thornton, even Michael Johnston early. I think Draper they see long term so gets some leeway.

But agreed - Omac would be better now - experience, wiser and his last games forward showed an intelligent footballer. All the reasons they put him on the list in the first place

Draper is there to cover the loss of Pearce. Or was for Walker when he got injured.
Raz is a mid.

100%. Selection inconsistencies is the exact issue and understandably leads to questioning the integrity of said process.

Had a listen to Brad Scott's press conference yesterday. Sounded like Shiel and Hobbs are a good chance this week to bolster their midfield. It gives them some depth there with those players along with Merrett, Parish, Setterfield, Caldwell.

It's just their defence and 1st ruck that looks inexperienced and it depends how much the weather may negate some of our height advantage with that. Looking fairly clear for Thurs afternoon at this stage - maybe it will only be light and hold off until the 2nd half.

Draper was so composed and confident against Sydney last year. He attacked the ball in the air. I know progression is not always linear but I wonder why the drop off. He has a lot more to offer than he is.

FWIW I would also look at OMac to replace him, can’t just carry youngsters who aren’t performing right now.

Different type of players IMO. Maybe give Ryan a rest, Worner/Chapman takes that role with Walker coming in.

Draper is playing because Pearce is injured and he's better than Davies and McDonald (games into a young defender).

Ive always watch my bud Drapes closely and yes I agree, not quite as stellar as last year, has made some bloopers, gone into his shell a bit and has been beaten a couple of times. But the whole Drapes is playing terrible thing in my mind is completely overdone. The kid has come in for one of the best key defenders in the game and is doing just fine. I have no problems with JLo sticking with him for a while and getting games into him when Moose has done his fetlock. Half of this board would have been crying blue murder on JLo, if we had played a veteran MacDonald over a kid. That would have been the conservative thing to do, playing Drapes is the non vanilla decision. Im ok with it.

Why not? He’s still not fully match fit, Jackson has been playing 50% of the time in ruck and Darcy has been spending a huge amount of time on the bench
Better off getting a full game in fitness wise, and coming back fresh to take on Rowan Marshall..
Essendon barely have a ruckman.

Given the short turnaround, I think they will play Hodor in the big league so that he and Jacko can share the load. I think match selection will consider this is not the game to make the Unicorn go solo in the rain.
