Anyone happen to be at Origin last night and report on the ground condition? Could be a messy one tonight..

No Darcy means Voss probabaly doesn't kick a bag against his old side 💔
I would love to know what happens in the inner sanctum. Presumably there is a shift of responsibilities for all forwards with the structural change. I'm also hoping Treacy and Amiss can get their well-earned rewards tonight.

I'm hoping Treacy and Amiss can take a couple of extra steps back for their runup and stop getting so close to the mark tonight. It's getting quite easy to pick when they are going to miss now. Particularly Amiss.
Amiss tends to lean back on his kicks. He needs to keep his weight forward. That could be an artifact of getting too close to the mark.

At least with rugby and football (round ball) the wings at Optus don’t get chewed up.

It’s the northern wing (broadcast side) that is most problematic, as it doesn’t get much sunlight in winter and is very slow to repair.

The condition of the playing surface still won’t be great tonight, but not as bad as a few years ago when the northern wing was very muddy for weeks on end due to turf damage from a big concert (i think it was Ed Sheeran).

i agree. I see this when he gets too close to the mark and he leans back and the ball usually goes high and to the right. It's quite clear when he's going through the action.

I turned the TV on and watched the last 2 minutes live, and just watched a 5 minutes highlightd package. It didn't actually look that bad to me, so fingers crossed for tonight.

The Lions are playing at Optus the night before our Saints game (more scheduling genius), and I'd be more worried about rugby union ripping the ground up than league.

As I have said previously, combine that sort of rain with a real scrum and the field will look like the venue for the world bog snorkelling championship

I recall Dudley chasing hard, ending up in the last line of defence and sticking a fair few tackles. Looked rather a lot more handy than Banners in that pressure forward role, but that is just the eye test
Can’t agree with you there, whilst Banfield has frustrated the living daylights out of me with his shots on goal over the journey, he has played the defensive forward role very well over a long period of time and Duds is not the same player defensively.

If we were discussing forward line potency then sure love to see a duds playing. Banfield is replacing Switta which makes sense.
