Everything about our injury and player load management highlights how bloody ordinary and amateurish we are in this field. Surely with the disasters weve had this year Bassat & Dilena arrange a complete review of the processes including the coaches over riding the medical advice. I have been screaming from the roof tops since preseason, but now the issues have finally raised their heads such that the club can no longer ignore them.

Ross Lyon is great for the club but I fear when it comes to the above he is a dinosaur, stuck with an 80's that etches its way into the clubs decision making.

Bringing in Misson and firing Welsh reeks of Ross bringing in his buddies.

Not one club that Misson has worked at speaks highly of him.

Classic saints
Walsh left due to family issues that meant he couldnt commit to a full role. He went back into part time consultancy afterwards.

What a load of unadulterated bollocks........

I'm pretty sure if you try hard enough you can pin the JFK assassination on RTB.....

So I gather given your well versed response you have first hand knowledge to the contrary? If so perhaps you would like to share the details with the forum rather than the tripe you rolled out.

Also have you ever taken the time to listen to Lyon's pressers?

Further files have just been declassified 🤔

So you make something up, present it as a fact, then anyone who disagree's needs concrete evidence. Riiiiiight.

We don't see the other side of the coin - how much are they warned of the risk of soft tissue injury, take the risk, it all goes ok.

Risk is just that. It's not a perfect science regardless of how much we all want it to be.
That's what I think too.
A lot of players are probably just either side of being "right to play" and injured a fair bit of the season.

There’s minimal reward for the risk when we’re in the early to medium stages of a list rebuild and sitting 15th on the ladder with 5 wins and 9 losses.

Even if we get Pou on the park and he escapes injury, which evidently was at odds, he plays forward with no midfield minutes in a line that’s relatively starved of entry.

The real reward is next year if he can get a full pre season, build up his conditioning, and we can get him back to playing in the guts.

Yeah, that's a fair point.

Re-writing history there. He was obscenely successful at Sydney and then under Ross the first time around.

The reason Sydney won that flag in 2005 and we lost was because they had one of the best injury runs I’ve ever seen a club have in my 35+ years watching footy, while we had half our most important players go down injured right on the eve of the finals.

They were able to field the same team week after week after week, and that’s why Ross brought him down when he got the job with us, and we then had a similar injury run in 2009 to the one Sydney had in 2005.

Likewise, we were able to just field the same team week after week after week, as we had about two injuries all year.

It was extraordinary the job he did at those two clubs. Almost got two teams who hadn’t won a flag between them for a hundred years a flag each within a 5 year period.

Well open the door, another intellectual giant bobs up!

What part of an opinion on a fan forum presents as evidence or factual. I have formed my opinion from the answers and years of watching and listening to Lyon in the media. He comes across arrogantly and dismissive when referring to the sport science/medical side of player management.

If you have information to the contrary I am more than happy to hear them.

Ross does 11 minutes of press a week, and Brofessor thinks he's deciphering the Da Vinci Code whenever he says anything that fits in with his narrative.

Its not that original Im sure Ive seen that line rolled out a dozen times on here, its not indicative of a huge intellect! ;)
I’m devastated by your critique.

Yes but that was 15-20 years ago.

Human physiology is completely different these days amongst the Gen Y’s and needs to be managed as such

Don’t be so logical, that would actually mean the club takes accountability.

Going off what many in here are saying we are much better off putting our heads in the sand and ignoring the obvious issues.

And we wonder why we are a mediocre club that has only won one premiership 😂

You’re also correct on Ross’ dinosaur views, one training session I’m told of where he lost it at a player going off with an injury and told to get over it and push through feels very 1980s

That’s correct, but it doesn’t change the fact that what he said was very very incorrect, hence my response.

Which has nothing to do with what’s going on now.

Well I have no idea if that’s true or not but if it is, it’s probably a good thing that he’s our football boss and not our high performance manager then!

Just with the King injury, you'd assume the specialists would be sports doctors that are working with many players across multiple teams and even codes yeah?

Unfortunately for whatever reason he has been misdiagnosed and it has been a debacle. Just have to pray now that they have it sorted and the multiple surgeries haven't caused any long term damage.

A whole year of his career down the drain. The poor bloke must be really devastated, please let this be the end of it.

Off legs means not running. Jesus christ people, have some common sense.
To be fair, why say "off legs" then. Say not running. I took it the same way and thought it was strange and possibly alarming.

“Common sense” should have been used in the phrasing. We're not all rocket surgeons. Dr google gave me this explanation, and as it reads Max should be in a nursing home.
