Aren't we supposed to be bringing in Oscar Allen for years and years ?
We are and I do see it as probably the smart decision (free agents are free hits) and Gallop is still an absolute baby who may not actually develop in time for us to contend this year and next. Talls like him generally take at least 4 years to develop.

But if Allen stayed in Perth I reckon the Hipwood/Morris/Gallop combo could be really complimentary.

I am still wondering if ZZ would be a good forward/ruck option too. But then we would badly need a new key back from somewhere. We were apparently into Aleer at some point?

Gallop definitely has some tools, and might well become a player - but he also might not. Not that it’s been suggested, but there’s no chance we would pass up the opportunity for a proven commodity (Allen) while we are at the pointy end just to get games into him.

He’s young enough to build up a body of work in the reserves to get himself ready for the AFL opportunity when it presents.

The balance between player development/planning vs. success no doubt is one of the things that keeps list managers up at night.

We were. But I think it's more likely he stays at GWS or goes to St. Kilda

Could we look at ZZ as a full time undersized extra mid? Know height works against him, but as he adds muscle he may be a decent long term option?

Thinking along similar lines. ZZ playing as a follower, at vfl level, appears a different player than ZZ at full back. I hope we can keep him on the list while he develops. Could be anything.

Has Jackson vibes, albeit a much younger and raw version. Only 4 cm height difference.

100%, I'm extremely bullish on Ty, very physical for such a young player, good pace too which is mainly on display with his defensive pressure. Clever in a marking contest, like Logan doesn't lose a lot of 1 v 1 contests.

I think Ty and Logan will compliment each other well when they eventually get together on a consistent basis.
We still have four years of Hipwood and probably Allen to come. Gonna be hard to get Ty and Logan both in the team on a consistent basis unless Allen's knee explodes.

Ty's had some good VFL games and played ok in his debut. I have not seen a reason to not recruit Allen. Ty could supplant Eric in the future if he's good enough - while Eric has 4 more years I do not believe his contract is that expensive.

It'll certainly look like a bargain in a few years. Hippy's 60m kick to hit Morris on the chest last Friday actually made me wonder if his best position is really the forward line, or as a sort of tall winger delivering inside 50. Maybe that'd create too tall a team though, I don't know.

His best position IMO is as a high roaming CHF. It's where he's been at his most damaging this year but due to circumstances half his season has been as ruck/forward or randomly having to go back. Will be so beneficial for the team if our forwards can keep a clean bill of health.

I know I’ll probably get shot down but what I have seen from Logan’s general field play I reckon he could roll thru the midfield in the coming years. He has exceptional vision, skill and hardness. This could allow Ty to also play in the same team with timed rotations.

How is his tank? that would be a big factor. Maybe high half forward - his vision and field kicking is sublime.

No doubt he might be able to, but I remember we rolled Jono Brown through the centre in about 2005. He was quite effective but if I recall he picked up some injuries which put an end to it to preserve his career long term.

It’s a lot of bash and crash and I’d prefer to play someone with his skill set in the front half where his impact is maximised.

I know we are obviously bolls deep into OA and it's a free hit and all but if the rumors are true about the length of the contract I worry about his fragility. I have said this before but I think Jake Riccardi, contracted for one more year, would be a better bet in terms of availability.

The one cavate I see is that many people seem to think OA is a great leader (which we sorely need up front). I was a bit unaware of him until the whole Sam thing which showed him in very poor light.

But players see the world very differently to supporters, sharing the same bubble.

I don't want Riccardi, lol.
