For some reason I can't see those photos in the app or in my phone browser... annoyingPic 9 in the training photos today has a big screen outside with the players watching some behind the goals vision.

Thankyou my friendGo to the "photos" link on the website under "latest" on the website. The link on the main page doesn't actually show any other photos, but the link under LATEST-PHOTOS gets you there.
This is the pic No 9 that I was referring to:
Down the bottom it says "#1 Tackling"Pic 9 in the training photos today has a big screen outside with the players watching some behind the goals vision.
Yeah it’s an interesting one. I feel like having a mobile ruck like Jackson is so advantageous these days, is playing Darcy negating that advantage when he plays for the sake of a few more hitouts? Some of us agree with you... Jackson is in career best form and is better as a solo ruck, but the club has invested in so much money to make the two ruck strategy work that not doing it is admitting defeat.
Big decision to be made at the end of the season, maybe if Darcy gets a few more games into him his trade value goes up a bit?
I get it for the last 6 weeks you’ve made it plainly obvious you don’t like Sean Darcy. But if you bothered to watch the first quarter and a half of Jackson rucking against Xerri on his own or maybe the week before Jackson against Witt’s. Maybe you could imagine those games without Darcy helping to wear them down so as a duo they could succeed for the benefit of the team. Let’s not get into the fact the last 3.5 games last year Jackson couldn’t do it on his ownSome of us agree with you... Fwiw, JL said today that basically if Darcy is fit, he'll play this week.Yeah it’s an interesting one. I feel like having a mobile ruck like Jackson is so advantageous these days, is playing Darcy negating that advantage when he plays for the sake of a few more hitouts?
Or are those hitouts invaluable to getting the result at the end of the game?
Or maybe that’s much of a simplistic view for me.
Great summation.Fwiw, JL said today that basically if Darcy is fit, he'll play this week.
Putting all the political answers aside, especially if/when Darcy kicks it up a notch, there's probably 3 main questions that come to consideration in the selection call:
If we reach finals, the do-or-die game/s should answer whether we actually think Darcy's best 22 or whether he's just a battering ram to absorb the big hits, and whether we sit Darcy when tomorrow doesn't matter.
- Do you trust Jackson against the best/the biggest rucks in individual games?
- Do you trust Jackson's body to hold up in long stretches of games, especially against the best/biggest rucks?
- Does this Jackson mid-ruck role work?
I like Sean Darcy, I just like Jackson more and think he will be an incredible number 1 ruckman for a very long time.I get it for the last 6 weeks you’ve made it plainly obvious you don’t like Sean Darcy. People keep trying to pick holes in one or the other. Why not celebrate the fact that we have both and good luck to other teams how you deal with both.
The point people make the Darcy is better against the big brutes is sound, but these days that is literally only Xerri, Gawn, Witts and maybe Marshall? He's just as big as anyone else really and can hold his own, as well as dominate them around the ball.Yeah it’s an interesting one. I think it's more valuable to say which finals contenders would Darcy play against? The point people make the Darcy is better against the big brutes is sound, but these days that is literally only Xerri, Gawn, Witts and maybe Marshall? Is it worth paying 700k a year to come in to protect Jackson in the 4 games a season he's not as big as the opposition ruck? I think Darcy is a good ruckman, but having 1,7million a year tied up in Rucks isn't ideal, so if a good deal came in for Darcy, the club would be derilect in their duty not to at least consider it.
Remember Serong goes out of contract again in a couple of years - his next deal probably needs to be near 1.5 million a season tbh.. you can't keep them all, and Darcy feels more expendable than Jackson or Serong that's for sure.
I think Jackson can be the best ruckman in the entire comp - once Max retires it's Jackson and TDK
I’m just glad you’re not on the selection committeeWould love to see this forwardline
Walter. Treacy. Dudley
Bolton. Amiss. Frederick
And we would want Darcy this week against Marshall. Jackson is a great tap ruckman, but he doesn't have the body size (and couldn't play the way he does if he put on the size).I think it's more valuable to say which finals contenders would Darcy play against?
Collingwood: Yes
Geelong: Perhaps not.
Brisbane: Depends who they are selecting.
GWS: Yes.
Gold Coast: Definitely, yes.
Hawks: Yes
Dogs: Leaning towards yes
Crows: Yes.

Yeah, I dont know why Briggs keeps getting brought up. Jackson has another preseason under his belt and is now so good, the big rucks needs to actually be decent players to worry about any impact from Jackson going against them. I'd like to see him against Meek solo as well if I could. Meek is borderline on the "not good enough to worry about" front. I'd lean towards both for Dogs though - because of Sam DarcyFor mine
Collingwood - 50/50 - I think Jackson and Cameron is a toss up.
Geelong - No
Brisbane - No
GWS - No, Jackson pantsed Briggs
Gold Coast - Yes
Hawks - Yes, Meek is a big boy.
Dogs - No, English would run Darcy off his feet.
Crows - No. Omac was our second ruck that day and had a day out.

We can play Jackson/Darcy together every game if Jackson the mid works. The single most important thing that will decide if they want to keep going with it IMO is how badly do we get killed on transition with them both on the field at once? If they can make that work, the combo can work
Yes, I believe soWhat are the ruck rules at the moment.
If he runs up and jumps at the opposition ruck, and they just put their hand up, push him away from the drop of the ball and then tap it away is that in the rules?
I remember before the Hawks game last year predicting that Jackson was going to get absolutely pantsed by Meek and he really did. You’d need a LOT to have changed from last year before Meek falls into the “don’t worry about him” category. If he’s fit Darcy still plays that game.Yeah, I dont know why Briggs keeps getting brought up.
