“"We certainly changed it up . we threw it over to the players and the leaders, they pretty much ran training both nights and we let the captains pick the side”

I guess the players had no option given that the coach wasn’t there both training nights. He gladly took the credit for the win though

All but confirmed that Jewell is off to coach in MPNFL next season
He told the players and club when they had 4 wins on the board that this was the last year due to work commitments

Which club? Won’t be Sorrento 🤣

Having watched Narre for a few years in Outer East, I reckon they would’ve come into the comp seeing how’d they go this year with their current list considering basically most players are 1 pointers. Next few years they can go and get a couple of big guns and reload. They still have a lot of young kids playing, add a few seasoned players in there and they’ll be back at the top in no time.
Could be wrong, just my opinion.

being in a relegation battle probably wasn't part of that plan

Goal for this season was to be competitive, and hopefully snag a finals spot. I agree a relegation battle was not on the coaching group agenda, but obviously with the injury toll to their top end players, it will be front and centre from now onwards.
The last 3 years in OEFNL was a struggle for them to keep quality players from leaving for a better comp and more $$$.
The comp evened up a little with Wandin, Woori improving there stocks and Narre coming back a level...

Each year Narre relied on Juniors coming through, while their depth was slowly eroded, due to the standard of the two's comp, players would move to Leagues closer to home to play more senior footy in the West Gippy leagues or SFNL lower divvies.
Believe they should be getting a few back after the BYE week.

I'd still be tipping Murrumbeena or Cranny for relegation. It will be intriguing to the end.

Cheers

In the voice of Tom Morris:
“ Breaking News: it’s my understanding, that today we can report, that East Brighton and Nick Jewell have parted ways. More to come on the developing story”
Has been an interesting saga this past couple of weeks. Results wise the All Stars have dropped off the cliff too! Will any players leave / walkout as a result? Just before June 30 deadline 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not going well at all Narre ,didn’t cranny win a flag in southern a few years ago?
Yep sure did but didn’t dominate the comp i actually thought Narre would play finals at least iv heard it for so many years from people that are from clubs from outer east or the old swgfl how they are so much better than southern fl clubs they may of been years ago but not now keysy and doves thought they would be in Div one after one year in Div 2 and Hampton park thought they would win it easily in div3 in there first year cranny did well but have gone back to the pack but doubt they will be down long who would of guessed years ago dingley would be the most powerful of them all as they didnt have much success in the years they played against those sides

They will certainly have to spend $$$ to compliment their juniors, southern has certainly improved a lot in recent years and good on the league for getting more clubs in there

He has also been very unwell , but that's his personal business

Ben Murphy back coaching at the Vamps. As 'unwell' as Nick Jewell is, the rumours he'll be coaching an MPNFL div 2 team are getting stronger

Is there anymore of an important game for Narre this weekend v Port Colts? Will want to out some breathing space from the relegation zone

lol I’m from dandenong m8 we don’t use punctuation and to be honest i don’t give a flying f—k if it makes your head spin
Punctuation can be cruel.

I'd put on weight so I went to the doctor the other day & he said "Just don't eat anything fatty"

I asked "what like chips & burgers?"

He replied "No, Just don't eat anything, fatty!"

Strong mail around in MPNFL circles regarding the currently unwell Nick Jewell was he was making contact to a few clubs roughly a month ago seeking clarification on senior coaching positions? clubs talk, results have headed south at the All Stars since though so maybe he was trying to get ahead of the curb and like previously posted a few days ago the buck starts and stops with the senior coach, What was his status for next season at the All Stars? Lots of skeletons in his closet from heresay though so be a brave club to take him on once he passes his health issues but it could be the circuit breaker that he and the All Stars need to get the season back on track and themselves into the September race
