Is it weird that Nicks said he is "pleasantly surprised" that Curtin re-signed? A weird statement. Or am I being too picky?
That is a weird thing to say, but not surprisingly weird given it came out of Nick's mouth.

Hopefully, my take on the situation is correct and as follows:

Curtin to Justin Reid and his manager: " Why should I resign, Nicks has limited my development and lucky not to have de-valued my worth to the rest of the competition, similar to what he is doing to C Edwards, Z Taylor and O Ryan and, and, and"

Justin Reid to Curtin and manager: " Don't worry, keep it quiet but you will have a new coach next year who sees awesome potential in you and a future captain of this club."

...........if only.

The biggest gripe I have with Nicks pressers is his constant need to immediately throw in negatives and downplay the younger players as soon as he's asked about them. Just can't help himself.
I heard him speak about the Curtin extension today, he mentioned that he still has a lot to work on... why does he feel the need to say anything like that after an such a positive announcement.

Chayce Jones if he does get a gig FFS give him a decent crack in the midfield, given the Tigers midfield is actually one of their strengths.

Exactly. Should be a moment to celebrate and he immediately feels the need to go down that path. And it happens all the time.

It's not hard to just tweak the phrasing slightly. Go from "he has more to work on in his game" to "He's got so much potential to grow as a player" or something.

I know, you were surprised, Lairds injured, surely Nicks would back him in...and you were right.

No way Laird is taking a match off, he can see we survived his mate being out, he isn't taking the chance to put his hand up and say he needs a rest, besides, his shoulders too sore to raise his hand
Sorry it's my fault I genuinely thought he would be out with the shoulder that he himself said was sore still

VB: Peatling for Pedlar
FFS get Murphy out!!

Taylor can do anything Murphy can & plenty more because he has actual skills.

SANFL stats in the midfield are irrelevant at AFL level as we just saw from bringing in Murphy who is our highest possession winner at the lower level

Is that cause like Jones we play him as a mid in the SANFL, giving them opportunity when they are delist material, instead of Taylor or Dowling or Edwards who actually may have a future.

When Nicks is asked about Edwards in a press conference he usually remarks he was a fine premiership player with the Crows
Reporter - "ah no we are talking about Charlie..."

Nicks - "he was a great player too, shame he left for Brisbane though"

Reporter - "No I'm referring to Charlie Edwards, from your SANFL side"

The selections of a coach genuinely worried we might lose to Richmond again

Looks like its Peatling for Pedlar. Thats the only change. Murphy probably likely Sub. Hopefully I am wrong but you are mistaken if he selects his sides on being worried about losing to a certain team, he selects his sides because he fears losing period and is trying to play it as safe as possible. Cant be his fault, he selected his most experienced team. Even though we could put Dowling, Edwards into the side and we might end up being more dynamic. But rolling the dice on a 7 disposal specialist in Murphy is a winner every day of the week.

Burgess is an interesting one, maybe they are thinking about giving Tex an extra break.
