On the plane with my two kids heading up north for Bont’s 250th!

Can’t bloody wait. Have high hopes we’ll lift for the game and win comfortably, but cautious given how often the Dogs let me down in high stakes games.

Very happy JJ is back.

Big game. Milestone for a club legend. Crucial to our double chance prospects. Media talking us up. Warm favourites. Friday night exposure.

It has all the ingredients of recent upset defeats. Prove me wrong Dogs. Show we can win at least once when it really matters.

Just winning on a Friday night would be novel.

There is a calm about Bevo this season I have not seen before and hopefully this translate to not dropping games we should win in the back half of the season. Namely

The crows in 24
The eagles in 23
The last 3 games in 2021

The evidence is good this season so far and there is only one game against the hawks where we have not given 100%. It is unfortunate that long term injury to absolute key personnel Darcy and The Bont prevented us from another couple of wins to give us more wriggle room.

I only expecting one more loss for the rest of the H & A season against the lions.

We’re W10 and L10 from our last 20 Friday night matches. So there’s a 50/50 chance of going into the weekend joyfully miserable

What id like to see, scores level, Bont marks at 60 meters out just seconds before the final siren and kicks an absolute bomb straight through the goal posts. 🤩
One can dream.

Would much rather it be a ruthless performance and just smash them, going to the last few minutes in a battle is generally always a nightmare.

Plus there would be PSTD from a couple of years ago where we threw away a game we should have won comfortably.

Our opinions differ significantly here.

Dropping games we should be winning IMO isn't based on whether Bevo is calm. I'm almost certain it comes down to our mental fortitude. The best teams all seem to be mentally strong. Watching the 'Shake Down The Thunder' doco only reinforces that strong belief.

What have we done to improve the mental side of our game? What are individuals doing to improve their mental toughness?

Bevo can rip off his shirt and beat down on his muscular chest like Tarzan for all I care. It ain't gonna be the difference between winning and losing.

The way I feel about our team this year is unlike any feelings I've previously had. It's something I've kept to myself in recent weeks but I've been wondering if anyone else here shares these thoughts?

I don't get excited when we win games that we should win. I just don't get upset.

When we lose games we should win (I.e. Hawthorn), I get mighty p155sed.

Based on the feelings I've had after most of our wins this year, I'm not expecting to get any excitement out of beating Sydney tonight or NM next week. I'll just be pissed off if we lose.

I reckon I'll be happy if we win our next three, because that will include a victory over Adelaide, showing we have beaten a fellow contender.

In the past I'd pretty much be happy as long as we win, no matter how much we win by or who we beat. Yes, there are a few exceptions to that because quite often good wins have been soured by in game injuries to crucial players.

Expecting a very tough game tonight. Sydney still believe they can make the 8 and will be all out to win. They are at full strength now and will apply intense pressure. Need to curtail their running game and not allow them to control the centre corridor. Of course, they need to do likewise to stop us. Just require a win irrespective of the margin.

I'll be very happy with a win, because:

1. We are playing interstate and that is never easy.
2. Sydney have close to their best team in and not only are they are a reigning GF-alist and quality side, but they look like they are gaining form.
3. We are favourites, and the pressure is well and truly on us, and we usually get beaten in these games.

I must admit I hate those down to the wire games where you sit watching all wound up like an old clock spring. It does little for me afterwards trying to get my beauty sleep. Horlicks and turkey sandwiches are useless after a game like that!

Im more confident at SCG than I am anywhere else interstate. Our game seems to stack up well there.

I would say Amartey being out means they are not at full strength, but they are close.

Unfortunately Bont is not going to have anywhere near the freedom of last week's game. Will have Rowbottom and Jordan putting body pressure on him all night.

Ed Richards likes this

I guess they could send Aaron Francis back.

Naughton really has to try and get off the chain as Sydney will be so Darcy focused.
