The players shouldn't be the subject of public humiliation - but nothing should be held back from the selection panel and the coach.

And ....... isn't this the perfect opportunity to give Sid another go? And/or Edwards or Ryan or Bond or even to see if Jones still has it. A win here - with Smith and Murphy tells us NOTHING about the possibilities of our squad.

There’s not many on here other than maybe clam that get personal with Murphy or smith.
Nicks is publicly humiliating Murphy by picking him and the end of the day is Murphy putting up these games.

I think Nick's is the kind of bloke that even if he thinks Murphy isn't the best player for selection, he will keep him in there because he won't bow down to public pressure.

Because 3 of the top 5 are Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Which ones are we beating in Melbourne to win the flag when we can barely manage to beat any of them at home?

Even if we somehow jag top 2 and win a home Quali and Prelim, odds are still on us meeting an MCG tenant/regular in the GF. Our only realistic hope is to meet Brisbane in the GF but that will almost certainly mean needing defeating one of Geelong, Hawthorn or Collingwood in the Prelim.

Also I didn't imply we were going to miss finals, I merely mentioned it as a possibility (if we were to fail spectacularly from here on in) to avoid anyone pointing out that the third option is still mathematically possible.

I'd absolutely back us to do a job on Hawthorn on the G, we looked better than them for 90% of the game the other week.

Collingwood and Geelong not so much.

Our inability to rotate the squad and give guys more exposure will be one of our downfalls come later in the year when injuries and fatigue strikes. Complacency also setting in. The lack of selection integrity is infuriating.

Yeah the fixation the club have had for a long time with 'continuity' is incredibly frustrating. They don't appear to understand the need to rotate a squad over a long season and it's caused list issues for us in the past.

Like you can avoid doing massive rebuilds, if you are constantly moving players in and out of the team, as you get a better picture of the squad as a whole.

I think the club locked into the ‘one week at a time’ mantra a bit hard this year.

List management needs to cull harder to stop Nicks selecting players like Smith and Murphy.

A few of us always said, Nicks will pick the most experienced side he could get is hands on given half the chance. Im even skeptical if Draper was given the run he was to appease the supporter groups and that Nicks had every intention of banishing him to the twos if he didnt get to star status.

Nicks yet again has his squad and unless injuries occur, Dowling, Edwards, Ryan, Nank wont get games. Each one would be better than Murphy and contribute more.

Do the Adelaide media at press conferences actually ask about the state of selection and why do some players who are clearly at Sanfl and playing well get over looked, even Dowling who played well at AFL level last year. Its strange.

Brisbane are good but we just beat them
Gold Coast are as finals green as we are
