With Lewis, Sicily, Worpel and Scrimshaw all unavailable, I'm predicting with North by 5 points.

Bordering on ‘we played Hawthorns VFL team’ areas.

I can’t remember Champion data’s formula to calculate when an AFL team clicks over to ‘VFL team’. Is it 5 or 6 unavailable? And does it include players ‘carrying niggles’?

Interesting Shotty got the call up, apart from being swung back last game he’s been primarily playing forward in the VFL.
I had been wondering if he was forward in the VFL to learn more about being a defender, and generally becoming more flexible, but that he’d still be developed primarily as a defender.

In any case, its safe to say we haven't played a proper AFL team since Good Friday.

You should, we're winning pretty often.
It doesn't fill me with any more joy than watching some highlights (or lowlights of players I'm over).

In real terms this doesn't provide enough detail. As overall guidance, sure.

How many kids do they have playing week in week out in crucial positions? Watson and who else?

Again sorry for the intrusion.

Doubt you’ll see hawthorn fans say anything of the sorts. A worse team beat Adelaide in the definition of a slog.

The way to beat Hawthorn is not allowing free flowing game and restrict their possession of the footy. Collingwood and Brisbane did it well with winning the contest or atleast evening it, but controlling the tempo through marks and going when they wanted to.

If hawthorn win enough footy they’ll have a lot of advantage because of the skill, run and damage, they defend well too. It’s crucial for North to provide consistent pressure like in the Carlton game, try to maintain possession and control at times and work the ball through the zone quickly at times aswell as to put the notoriously attacking Hawthorn defenders 1on1 and on the back foot, as they tend to play front position.

North have a good midfield and have looks good defensively with some damaging forward options, it will be a contest.

Did we break Carlton or were they already broken?
Real test for us are these next 2 weeks. Don’t want to see any blow outs.
I'd like to think we can split our next four games two and two. I think the toughest match-up for us is probably the Bulldogs. I think we can inflict more pain on the Godees at the G, and we owe both the Hawks and the Swans. Win two of those, and then knock off the Tigers and the Saints on the way home. Finish the year with a fair bit of momentum, splitting our last 15 games 50:50, and having made a huge step up.

We can charitably assume that they had something left in the tank going by that last quarter. They could've given up and didn't. They're unravelling big time now, but I don't think they were broken at 3QT of that game.

Next two are bastard matchups. We can beat Hawthorn but the compound of grit and skill that will be required to do so will be a tough ask for a group that's too often lapsed back into shit after a good run

I think we actually match up on them quite well. Especially inside the contest.

We just have to limit the impact of their ground level running/link up players like Amon, D'Ambrosio, Weddle, Moore and Watson. That's probably where they have the edge on us.

We really need to slow this game down to a grind and really hit them hard like we did with Carlton.
Conditions likely to play a big role in this match, with wind chill factor probably looking at 3deg plus rain so low scoring high shivering I’m predicting tight contest under 100 points with either side to win by a nose, draw would not surprise.

I don't think it'll rain but -1 is forecast for Launceston tonight.

14 during the day is almost jumpers off in the sun. A heatwave for Launy in June.

Big game for us tomorrow, sneakily big. A good performance and we'll officially be coming, a terrible one and we'll be back where we were a few months ago.
