Our inability to rotate the squad and give guys more exposure will be one of our downfalls come later in the year when injuries and fatigue strikes. Complacency also setting in. The lack of selection integrity is infuriating.

100% agree with this. Perfect opportunity to bring in Edwards and or Draper this week. Such an obvious straight swap for Smith and Murphy, both of which should be behind Edwards and Draper in the depth chart.

The best teams manage and rotate their squad for the entire season and make sure their depth is ready to go should they need to during finals. Wheras Nicks requires an injury to occur before he would even consider bringing the younger guys from the SANFL in.

We have bugga all injuries and Murphy (and Smith) are playing yet again.

We know what these two bring to the table, we know they can't contribute and won't contribute in tbe finals.

Wouldn't it have been better to get some game time into Edwards and a couple of other youngsters.

Nicks has his favourites, regardless of form, and Murphy is one of them.

That's why it took to round 14 for Murph to be selected (+ having two others in Taylor/Pedlar given the chance first). Murph isn't a favourite. He's an indicator that our depth in the position is exhausted.

Anyway, Peatling for Pedlar was always on the cards when that sub rolled around, and even more so if fitness tests were required for Luke. Much like Taylor, puts him in a very awkward situation moving forward.

Let's not forget that its not Murphy nor Smith's fault they are in the team. They just put their hands up for selection - so would I - and the selection panel makes their choice. The players shouldn't be the subject of public humiliation - but nothing should be held back from the selection panel and the coach.

And ....... isn't this the perfect opportunity to give Sid another go? And/or Edwards or Ryan or Bond or even to see if Jones still has it. A win here - with Smith and Murphy tells us NOTHING about the possibilities of our squad.

There is nothing humiliating about getting an AFL game in any situation.

That is never a genuine reason to select someone, as that's what training is for. If they don't stand out there, they sure as shit won't stand out in an AFL game.

I would never say you were annoying Feenix, you're very knowledgeable. However, given a choice between celebration and criticism, you do have a tendency to choose the latter.

Reckon Reid & Ogilvie must tear their hair out in dealing with this incompetent clown we have as senior coach !
The snail pace development of players is a joke. He will never develop this list even if given another 3 years which appears likely ! I'm a fan of Curtin but bewildered by a senior coach who admits he doesn't know where to play him ! If he doesn't know, how can he be best developed if they don't know what he is... a forward or defender or midfielder. Imagine Matthews, Parkin, Pagan, Blight in the same position !!
My view is Curtin should be a lot further in his development than he shows ! Two weeks ago so hung up about the team disciplined/demanded approach he stifled his own flair to kick a goal & tried to pass it off within 25 metres of goal.. A player with his innate ability should be encouraged to take the opposition on as that's the only way you rapidly develop confidence but with this unimaginative moron you are rewarded for a block, a tackle, taking up space, standing the mark anything but getting the ball & beating your opponent & certainly not for kicking a goal ! At times Curtin appears hopelessly uncertain to fully attack the ball as if he fearful of making a mistake or meeting Nick's displeasure .. Draper displays much the same, Taylor showed the same effects prior to be being dropped. Pedlar has never got over it !

We may make the four but will not beat any of the other three finalists regardless where played but I guarantee the useless clown gets reappointed after blaming the players( his favourites !) and the club praises his performance as if he's Blight reincarnated.We seriously are deluded !
