First rendition of this years rankings below.

Prefix this by saying I haven't got to watch as much underage footy as previous years (particularly SA and WA) but I have watched all the champs games so I've put a lot of stock in those performances. Pretty confident with the top 25-30 or so, but after that you could throw a blanket over the rest of them as to how they are ranked. This draft definitely lacks the depth and top tier talent of last year but I think there will be some diamonds and some real solid role players that come from this draft.

I'll slowly add descriptions over the next few weeks when I get a chance. Highlighted players indicate academy and father/sons.

Thanks for sharing love this part of the draft when people share their rankings great part of the footy community is talking about the draft in my opinion

Jacob Farrow moving up the draft boards.

Wouldn't at all surprise me if he pushes well into the top 30 come draft night. There isn't many stand out half backs in this crop outside of Josh Lindsay and even though he has run through the midfield at the champs I really like him when he is setting up plays behind the ball. Good size for a modern day half back too.

Again.

Here for the Rodriguez, Schubert, Oudshoorn-Bennier, Dovaston, Greeves, Swadling and Addinsall love in.

My fellow German would need to improve his ball drop to enhance his ranking.

So kye fincher going undrafted?

Finally

Reckon you dont have enough eggs in the basket of Cook, Farrow, NHH, Coulson and maybe M.Marsh (but less so)

And too many in Le Ray, Barker

Cook I haven’t seen enough of to make a definitive call. Really like what I saw in the last champs game.

Hibbins-Hargreaves has plenty of tools, but I’d love to see him push through the midfield or up onto a wing more regularly. He has a tonne of upside and would surprise me at all if he went higher than I have him ranked currently,

LeRay & Barker both have huge upside potential, they are both on the taller side, both strong runners and both offer a point of difference as more outside types. LeRay imo is one of the best and penetrating kicks in the draft which is why i have him ranked highly.

Not undrafted, just not in this top 50 or so at this stage. I probably have him on the fringe of this list along with another half a dozen others. He has some draftable traits with his footy IQ

As I mentioned in the OP, beyond pick 25ish you could throw a blanket over the rest of the draftees and where they’d be ranked.

I think Talor Byrne gets drafted a a small pressure forward even though he plays mostly midfield for the GWV Rebels, put it this way he certainly has speed, agility and a take no prisoners attack on the contest and I'd be picking him before teammate Harley Hicks who no doubt has extreme talent but can be a bit flakey with his attack on the contest.

Byrne reminds me a bit of Ollie Hannaford last year, and we know how he shot up rankings at the back end of last year.

Hopefully he gets an opportunity at the champs at some stage so he can put more of a case forward.

Both have an absolute hunger for the contest and high end hardness but I reckon Talor even tops Ollie in that regard.

Finally one that doesn't have King so ridiculously high.

I probably have him a little behind the leading pack, his decision making at times can be inconsistent and from limited viewing he probably isn't as one touch as I thought he would be. However, there would be easy enough justification to have him higher especially with his athletic profile.

I just feel some that have him top 6 have gone a little OTT, somewhere in between the two is probably where he lands but 6 seems horrifically high

That's a fair assessment. He does have a high ceiling though because of height, flexibility to play roles and his athleticism. Of the taller mids (Greeves, Onley and King) King, is easily the most athletic so that could be an easy enough justification to have him ranked higher than others.

Outside of Sharp and Annable, I don't think too many of the top tier mids have put their name up in lights yet, but there is plenty of time left in the Champs so he could easily push into that top 5 conversation (if he isn't there already).

I mean a month ago we as supporters were hoping for a pick before King then match our 3, but that seems optimistic there. Think a bid around pick 8-10 is about right give and take for him.

Cook avg over 31 disp, 4 marks, 7 tackles and over 5 clearances a game

Has a pretty nice looking kick, is tough and seems to have a bit of acceleration

Size his issue, but reckon hes better than Grlj from the limited i saw of him vs SA

Took note of Cook closely today and he really impressed me. Very balanced, has a nice step, seems to have good vision in traffic and his left foot is damaging especially in space. Smoked the more fancied Onley and Hibbins-Hargreaves in a couple of contested situations today.

He’ll be in the next rendition of my top 40 I reckon.

A few comments after the last few weeks of footy.

- Sharp, Schubert, Lindsay, Annable, Barker and Dovaston have all at least solidified or improved their respective rankings in the OP.

- Big question marks on Hibbins-Hargraves, Rodrieguez and to a lesser extent Duursma (I still don’t for see which position he’ll be best suited to at AFL level).

- I had Jack Cook, Jett Dahlitz, Jesse Mellor, Sam Ainsworth unranked, they are likely to push into that top 50 range.

- Marsh & Farrow likely improved their rankings considerably while Swadling and Ah-Mu move up a few spots.
