No game plan can accommodate for blonks trying to execute it , mansell and green got like 10p between them while there direct opponents have > 40 no game plan gonna beat that , you with me
Maybe that's because we take so long to get the ball into the forward line and then consistently kick the ball high and long, often to the opposition defender's advantage. Have a look at the intercept statistics for our opponents. Green would have to stand on Mansell's shoulders in the goals square to have a chance to compete. Yet, if they did that, then we would probably kick it short.

Thilthorpe way too big for Miller. Ben looked like a toothpick next to him

Blight, perhaps the better match-up purely based on his size and his good spoiling technique. I would have liked to see Yze make a change after his 3rd or 4th goal and see if Blight could curtail Thilthorpe

With Lynch likely to get a week min, or 2 max if the MRO puts on the Lynch tax.
The backline would then be Blight, Miller, Broad, Trainor, Vlastuin, Brown, Banks

Balta goes forward and rotates with Nank in the ruck
Miller is taller than Blight so not quite sure if your thinking makes sense

Lynch is a professional athlete on a million dollars a year.
Trying to blame the coaching staff for Lynch being a sook and undisciplined is ridiculous.
If Lynch got just half the umpire calls other forwards from opposition clubs get, he won't be so frustrated.
the man gets no support, 2 defenders hanging off him each week and the umps don't give a damm.
He's not sooking, he's frustrated!

Don't think you quite grasped my comment. Miller looked like a toothpick and was monstered by Thilthorpe.
I reiterate purely based on his size, strength "build-wise" and his good spoiling technique.
the biggest issue with our defenders playing on the monster forwards is they don't jump in and body spoil and get that extra height and reach needed to connect with the incoming footy. honestly the best spoiling technique we have is campbell gray, the dude launches into his spoils.

Thought Ross had some good moments today, particularly early in the game when I thought he was our most damaging midfielder. I’m not his biggest fan, and I’m normally confused exactly what role he’s playing, but today looked a little like R1 Ross.
Re changes for next week
In Hotton, Young, Rioli, Tresize and Fawcett or Sims
Out Kmac, , Sonsie, Green, Lych (suspended), Lefau (inj )

Spot on. Gray does it. Blight can also launch to spoil. Rance was a master at it.

Blight at 102 kgs to Millers 96kgs, wouldn't have hurt to make a change to see if Blight could curtail Thilthorpe.
Thilthorpe saw him pretty close up today, man mountain.

What. He was fantastic to start the year and had been overall decent recently. Simply is asked for do too much and we have no one to relieve him in the ruck consistently
I agree. He has been possibly our best. He’s a great warrior. But he’s now being outmuscled and out played. We have no one to relieve him. Balta was good today when he did ruck in the second half. Lefau was trashed by Reilly and Tillthorpe. We need another bigger and younger guy to help or take over. OHB? Get another from another club?

miller got sucked into trying to go body-to-body with him most of the time. had no chance. blight wouldve def been a better match.
was disappointing that we didnt seem to have put any work into their forward line, shouldve had broad or someone coming across to help but titrope got 1v1s almost exclusively. lynch would kill for that.

Dion was our best by far
Watch his disposals. They were generally slow and hopeless and he is now under pressure much than he was when he was a good player. Should retire.

Went to the game even thought it was looking like it was going to be a wet weather day - it was only "wet weather" in the way we play. First things first ;

If Tom Lynch played for Collingwood, Hawthorn or Bulldogs today he would have kicked 3-4 goals and not been reported.

I'm glad Yze mentioned the four dodgy frees in "marking contests" around the 10 min mark of the third. It's about time this sort of "bad umpiring" gets called for what it is.

Alger, Banks, Ross, Prestia and Broad were good for us. This is where we are as a team - losing badly but also not having our best side out there week by week. No Lynch against the Scats will be a tough lesson for our inexperienced forwards.

Resist the temptation to blood Hotton next week. Give him a full game at VFL, but time to make changes and I hope Lalor is available. Sonsie is not a forward, not a midfielder and not an AFL standard player. Green and Mansell putrid (again).

Only 24K at the ground but it seems to be much less. Mostly due to performance, but the way the club has shafted Reserve Seat members by moving us to the wing so far into the MCG we are almost in the toilets. No wonder the crowds are not going.

Out - Lynch (sus), LeFau (inj), Sonsie (delist), Green
In - Sims, Short, Lalor, MRJ

I would try Blight up forward.

I get his frustration but as a Leader in a rebuilding super young team acts like that are inexcusable

Shithouse from the big fella, but the club and Yze have to be better and bring up to the AFL the mistreatment he gets non stop from the umps

Enough is enough ffs
Each to their own opinion. We were being physically bullied, legally and illegally. Lynch had to stand up and get physical back. It's just how it is some days. By the way I was fine with Nank doing similar a couple of years ago. Playing unsociable footy from time to time has always been important if you want to be a successful club. If Lynch is missing for the next few weeks that's a shame but we use it to get more games into Fawcett or Sims which is ultimately to our benefit.

I’m all for being physical but do it smart. Lynch does not do it smart as reflected in the frees he gives away. He can and should use his body in other ways but he is too frustrated to do anything but dumb physicality and the umps are clearly watching for his undisciplined responses

Lefau, lynch, McIntosh out.
I’d look at giving Faull and Green a spell as well.

Sorry but McIntosh is moving like an old man. I can’t believe we are still playing him.

Sims, Young & Lalor in. Hotton to start and Short can be sub.

Trezise in the mix and wouldn’t be upset to see him get a run if they think Hotton needs another game in the twos.

Hotton should be the end of Green.

We field at least 3 players a week who have practically zero impact on the game. You just can't hope to be competitive with that sort of cattle in your 23.

Just have to keep reminding ourselves they're only placeholders for guys like Hotton Smilie Lalor and Mcauliffe
I assume you are talking about Taranto Hopper and MacIntosh?

Miller had no choice because the delivery to Thilthorpe was under no pressure. If he played in front, he risked allowing him to get out the back, if he played from behind, they put it to Thilthorpe's advantage, The pressure up the field was rubbish

crows way too slick.

Our basic skill errors in our possession chains halted our own momentum which hurt but hopefully fixes over time.

Ross I thought was good in the guts for the most part. That’s his spot.

Banks I really enjoyed his game.

Alger 2 goals made me happy!

Balta is a 10 x better player when playing on instinct and see ball / get ball IMO.

Our midfield CBA still bugs me.

Taranto, Hopper, Prestia and Ross only used.

Individually they often all get good numbers but collectively as a unit it’s just not doing it.

Yeah we might get good clearance numbers but the quality of clearance is poor.

Must be more creative in this space and get others involved.

Crows have beaten other teams by more this year. So not all bad.

With next week is Balta safe time wise?
