5-6

lucky he didnt connect well enough otherwise hed be looking at 8-10

people making excuses for this action because hes being rag dolled and improperly held are fooling themselves, its not like he decided to throw the crows player to the ground or push him over and copped a free against for holding the man

were talking about a thrown punch here.

Okay I'm a hawks supporter but the way I saw it was like this. It's Nashs job to get in the exit lane of the stoppage, Miers won that footy so cleanly and quickly moving from A to B elite stuff, Nash seeing where the tap was going and he wasn't going to get to the exit lane he threw his arm into it.

All happened in a split second and stupid by Nash who needed to identify he was out of position and throwing his arm out isn't helping and is dangerous. But for the argument say it was someone who's less skillful like an Atkins who was winning that footy fumbles it a little, there would be no contact.

Thats why it was treated as a footy incident but worse than other incidents that were graded similarly so went for an extra week above the top of the matrix.

I agree that they need to fix the matrix was saying it at the time that things like Curtis tackles and body checks like Nashy and others need to be graded differently. I'd be happy if we had a system where an unintentional high server tackle is 2-3 but a unintentional high server body check strike was 4-5 just needs to be consistent. In the current system Nash getting 4 makes sense, and I feel so does Lynch 5ish.

Fair but Nash should be in the 5 range for mine with the Lynch ones in the 6-7 range. Tackles gone wrong unless it's some spear tackle like no tomorrow should be no more than a week or two at the absolute most. I hate this penalising the outcome, it's just ending badly. We have two blokes lets call them A and B...one has had 10 concussions and one has never had one...two similar tackles who is more likely to be concussed?

It's not hard really

1-2 weeks (tackles)
3 weeks- bad football actions, i.e strikes especially
4 weeks-bad football actions with exceptional circumstances
5 weeks- non footy actions and bad footy actions that have a potential to cause injury
6+ non footy actions with outcome increasing it but start at 6 weeks

Honestly really it shouldn't be that hard they are making this to be a dogs breakfast

But I think we can at least see why Lynch would become more and more frustrated if that is occurring at multiple contests, no?

KPFs have been getting scragged, held, blocked, arms chopped etc for a long time now and the umpires generally turn a blind eye to it. Tlynch, like forwards in the past - example Barry Hall, get frustrated and react in the worst possible way.

This isnt anything new when it comes to how forwards often are left to bear the brunt of opposition harassment.

Least Butts should be happy that Lych was unco and didn't have a boxing background like Big Barry.

Yeah I mean umps pay every hold imaginable for mids but let forwards get scragged all day long and don't pay a thing.

for them (umps) it's possibly swings & roundabouts... too much focus on the mids & not enough around the ground

Way too much focus on the mids, touch Nicky boy and it's a free, but scrag Darcy and it's all sweet.

I feel like the McAdam suspension is relevant here. It was determined to be 'severe' based on the potential to cause injury, despite it not causing any injury and it being a football act. The potential here is, legitimately, a brain injury or death.

Severe, intentional, high contact. Looking at a very long stint here if the AFL had any integrity.

Should be 6-8 weeks. Season over and make a stance against what is trending down at tiger land as the coward punch culture.

Noah balta and now lynch

lol at the last sentence and believing the AFL has any semblance of 'integrity'

I think 4 weeks is a minimum, can't see it being less than that, can see it being more.
Would be a sad finish to his career at the tigers if that was his last game and he joined Dimma next year at the suns.

Very generous if it's only 4, but agree and I expect it to be that.

Why on earth would the GC need Lynch?

They have Ben King, Ethean Read and Jed Walter.
That would be going backwards.

If they don't make the finals something has to give, I agree with you though.

Should be four for the Butts and two for the scraggy kick/foot to face on Worrell whilst injured/hurting and again ball no where near where the incident took place. To me that is the bigger issue in all this and seems to been overlooked in most of this.

Consecutive suspensions to get the full six.

Am I missing something? Curnow and lynch have basically an identical frees for average
it's the eye test, i don't have access to any of the statisitics but curnow gets far more f50 free kicks than any other forward, and has consistently in the past.

Depends what "unreasonable" is now deemed in the modern game. Sometimes, even the slightest of touch in a marking contest is deemed "unreasonable".

Are we talking about a Langdon-style scenario where Adelaide defenders ignore the ball and their sole intent is to stop Lynch from jumping at the ball? No.

But even in the passage of play leading up to Lynch being a dickhead, you see Butts wrap his left arm around Lynch's bicep/lower shoulder which prevents Lynch from jumping up. Under current interpretations of rules, I don't believe it is a holding free kick because Butts raises his right arm to attempt to spoil, thus is still playing the ball. But I think we can at least see why Lynch would become more and more frustrated if that is occurring at multiple contests, no?

(And before anyone says anything, have I said it's a justification for what Lynch did? No. So let's not argue like toddlers, and have this conversation as mature adults).

Maybe Thilthorpe should have started a punch on too.

There were a couple of dodgy actions by Lynch in the 1st qtr that went unnoticed by the umps
