When the word mathematical is there it’s season over. Prepare for next season and get a softer draw with a better injury list next year. Work on the small things this year with results being secondary to game style
You honestly think Cox will be thinking, “ah we can still make finals as long as we keep winning our games esp with a home game this week and 4 games after against teams outside the 8 to give it one last best shot with most of my players back from injury but actually nah it’s too hard let’s just play the kids and hope for the best.”

We aren't winning this week lets be real okay, I've been enjoying the small things certain players are doing every week, results have been secondary for 8 weeks for me. Our form isn't going to turn around and win 8 plus it's just not goiing to happen if we win 3 that's more than I would expect.

So where did he play well

He tried getting it forward, yes was a bit fumbly but was getting in and creating, there would be 5+ that played full games I'd be dropping before a sub who gave us energy when he was on.

IN : Amartey and McCartin
OUT : Francis and McLean

Buller wasn't great by any means, but he got involved at some good moments and did some good things. His approach to a set shot is a crime against humanity, and explains his accuracy in front of goal, but McLean is just as woeful in front of goal and needs to be dropped more than Buller, who I think deserves a couple more games based on effort and a desire to find out if he offers us anything going forward.

EDIT - If Rampe is out, I'd bring in Snell. Dattoli seems like he's close, but probably not this week.

He had as much energy as i had the Sunday after the 05 flag

Was better than McClean/Francis were the entire match. What has McLean done all season other than miss sitters from in front?

If Amartey isn't fit Mclean won't get dropped is my guess.

Wasn't he sore after the Port game himself , maybe he has a niggle

Don't care if he's not fit. Still wouldn't play McClean. The bloke kicks like a donkey and does nothing around the ground. Buller did more defensively in one quarter than McClean has the entire year

Don't disagree but if Francis and Amartey both are out then he might win a stay of execution .

He needs the white tent and NOW. If you are going to kick badly you sure better not let the opposition waltz out

Why wouldn't we be winning this week? Our form over the past 3 games suggests where every bit as good as Freo are right now.

They have won 5 in a row...we have won 2/5 in the same period. There is a slight difference in form! Only sides we've beaten in that period are Richmond and Port who are in the bottom 8.

I mention form from the past 3 games because that's the only part of the year we haven't had a 3rd of our best 23 missing and anyone can see there's been a clear difference in how we play since then.

And yes 5 wins in a row is impressive but if you're going to crap on the quality of opposition we've beaten over the past month then maybe take a look at who they've beaten. The suns win is a decent scalp but only just scraping over the line against North and St Kilda aren't anything to write home about, nor are wins over port or Essendon.

Feel free to disagree but I think the bookies have this one right and I'm confident in a win.

All of those sides are better than beating a hapless Richmond side who have started to cool off as expected this year. The only half decent win was Port and that's generous. Their side bats way deeper than ours this year, and heaven knows what their midfield will do to our one. Just you watch us pick McClean to miss goals and do nothing too
