Boyd probably hasn’t played a good game since the 2023 preliminary final.
It’s funny that some want to give a fringe best 22 player the best part of two years to find his form but won’t afford the same luxury to someone as important as the coach of the team.

Delisting Boyd will make zero difference to the way we play. On the other hand delisting the coach........?

His tank is okay, good hands in contested situations while being a safe mark for a player of his size and playing position, good defensive player who knows how to find the ball when around stoppages or in his vicinity….

So just to clear i really like what he brings to the side, hard and unconditional, imo he is more a undersized midfielder playing that defensive small forward role while given some limited opportunities in the midfield…

For me, he really isn’t built for a role on the wing, he doesn’t possess the athleticism or attributes that is required for a modern wingman…

Personally we need to find another player to take over from Acres wing role when his time comes, I’m not sure besides Ollie we have the next attacking/damaging future prototype whitch we’ll need heading forward..

Imo wingman need to have a POD, speed skills run… 👍
Would love to see Cowan on the wing if he had the tank…

Usually I would never miss a carlton v pies game.

Landing back in Melbourne at 6pm. Could make it to the game but think I'm going to give it a miss and just go watch at home.

Fly might show his old mate Voss a bit of mercy and only win by 10 goals instead of 20.

Players effort is going to speak volumes tonight. It was non existent last week. If it's the same tonight it will be an all mighty thumping followed by media heat we haven't seen in years.

We cannot/must not put in another performance like last week.

Comments like this are just rubbish, and completely personal.

Bloke has busted his gut every week in the 2s and was clear best on ground last week.

He deserves a call up more than anyone else in the VFL side. Whether he plays well or not tomorrow night he had to come in, and he should have everyone’s full support
That was not a personal attack. He's allowed to call it as he sees it. He never attacked his character or called him unsavoury names.

There's alot of guys in the VFL who bust their gut but aren't up to AFL level.

Over Evans career at 3 clubs he averages

0.6 goals per game.
7.4 disposals a game
1.9 tackles

The speed and pressure of AFL is too much for him.

He's not up to it unfortunately.

Of course once he runs out in our clubs jumper we will support him. But Voss can't be surprised when he delivers what he has always delivered at AFL level.

Yeah Francis Evans is a great player just a bit unlucky that he hasn’t got a kick at 3 AFL clubs.

I’m sure he’ll make the most of this opportunity though 👍
This..

After that woeful Sydney game.. Broken Hill 3rds level kicking for goal 🤦🏼‍♂️

I’m usually pretty fair with most players but that’s ’papers stamped, goodbye’ level performance

Hopefully he can play some kind of role

Not surprised Boyd omitted - loose unaccountable and low impact. I think Wilson couldnt finish the game last week unfortunately he has been in good form in the 2's. Lemmey a bit stiff Docherty extremely lucky but he is being played to retirement. Would be great to see Moir make his presence felt. Cinc hasn't been right since he returned unusually low impact maybe a tad hip sore - who knows? I doubt Cerra plays HBF. Hopefully Cripps is over his illness and Weitering can actually run this week. Pittonet is only playing because HOK is injured. Another season of too much pizzpoor continuity due to injuries.

Sidebottom out is good news.

The problem re: Evans isn't a slight on him personally, it's that we don't have enough players warranting a call up more often than him.

He's deserving this week certainly on his VFL form and effort. He may well struggle (or worse) tonight, but it is what it is. If he never makes a go of it at senior level, I guess he'd get cut at the end of the year.

Frankie is just finding his groove, our best VFL small forward by a mile.
Wouldn't surprise me if he established a position in the seniors ahead of Mots, Durds and Fog.

A lot of short memories on this board.

I can understand the reasoning behind giving our kids (e.g. Moir) another chance in the seniors despite their past performances being well below the required level.

But I simply cannot fathom what we expect to gain from playing Francis Evans. Personally I don’t care if he had 400 touches in the reserves, he’s had plenty of chances to bring VFL form into the seniors has consistent proven he can’t get it done - AT THREE DIFFERENT FOOTBALL CLUBS.

I’d much rather see someone who will be at Carlton in 2026 getting a game ahead of a guy that is a near certainty to be delisted.

The cupboard isn’t nearly bare enough to name Evans. It’s another dodgy Voss-led team selection. The sooner this era is over the better.

I'm not upset with the ins, Evans isn't AFL standard but he's earned his spot.

My frustration is with the outs, I know we have a couple of injuries as well, but where's the statement? Has Vossy ever, ever made a statement at selection? Even Goodwin dropped Lever the other week.

Wilson was under a bit of an injury cloud, but it does state he's omitted...

That's piss poor really, dropping the kid after one game where there were a whole host of senior players who have been stinking it up all year...

I get that you don't want to play too many kids at once... especially for this one but dropping under performing senior players is a move that should have been made ages ago...

So, 6 changes, 2 forced.

Well, Saad has been average all year anyway. JSOS been a bit below what we saw earlier in the season.

tbf, there are no changes that they could have made to make us competitive. But Pitto back in is going to hurt us... I look forward to his 1 mark...

The icing will be making Moir or Flynn the sub...
Thankfully Moir named in 18, so can’t be sub

Still can’t reconcile how he players 19 games for Port last year, including 3 finals
