I wish Carmella got snuffed out as well. Her and Janice just depressing as * characters.

Carm was funny once though '' You're putting me in a situation where I feel sorry for a who re. Lol.

Polish hag.
Goddamn it listen to you Tony, why don't ya run off to one of your little Russian whooahs.

Carm and Jan were just too well written and acted to throw in the fire, glad they stuck around.

Foxtel finished it's Sopranos marathon yesterday. I loved that ep where Vito is working and he goes off as time is dragging. He fleas in the morning leaving his gay boy lover then shoots that campaigner dead after he crashed into him in the street after drinking vodka. The same ep that Tone is more concerned about his food in the microwave than talking to Meadow.

I can't stand that Janice campaigner though. ****. The cabin epsisode was the next episode after that then I went to bed.

I've seen that same episode 3 times in as many weeks I reckon and it's Gold rather than old.

I will tell you why you never watched it and that was how Nien destroyed the viewing experience. It didn’t rate so pushed out to late night start times on Season 1.

Then with Season 2 about to start Nien put a notice on screen saying the new series won’t air tonight; instead S1 will be repeated. (Could have been S3 can’t remember exactly)

From that point on it was moved all over the place

I think about then in the early to mid 00’s torrenting took over the FTA shafting that was happening

The same happened to Scrubs and Lost on Severn

Incredibly it still makes me spew when I hear FTA bleating about Streaming services and their growth; they killed the golden goose

Now idk if that’s your reason but out of sight out of mind
Apparently people weren't happy and phone calls were made

a few dated references, but I think CSI is still going strong

Biggest and simplest clue is Bobby at the half way end of S06.."it all goes black" to T on the boat. And it did.

Still love that 3 yrs on it still causes debate...much like my other fave LOST finale will still be talked about in another 3 years.

These producers were able to do it their way...so many other shows in TV history didn't.

14 years on

I sort of accidentally watched the pilot again a couple of weeks ago. The pilot really is a masterpiece, only an hour long but feels movie like with the amount Chase squeezed in there to set the whole story up. Now I'm half way through season 2 & will have a look at Wise Guy shortly.

I've watched it all umpteen times but not for about 5 years so, it's still as good as ever, maybe better in some way I haven't quite put my finger on yet. & of course - funny AF.

I would stop right now and watch Wise Guy

It will give you so much context

The Sopranos is probably the only one of the 'all time great' tv shows I haven't seen.

I started it a week ago and I am 7 episodes in.

Off to a good start , season one seems to be more character development to probably help us understand why certain people do certain things in the later seasons.

The Sopranos, is the only TV show, where not only do I not fast forward the opening credits, I turn up the volume when they play.

I ****ing LOVE The Sopranos. And still the DVD Boxset sits untouched, saving the second viewing of it.

There is a tremendous website called Sopranos Autopsy that breaks down every episode and points out various subtle elements of each episode and how they tie into each other. I would not read the website for episodes you haven't seen, because they all assume that you have seen the episode before reading the breakdown of the episode, but bookmark it and come back to it once you're deeper in to the series.

I've watched The Sopranos twice-through, and I've watched Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul once through (plus several Breaking Bad episodes multiple times). I'm in season 1 of The Wire at the moment (trying to finish Homicide: Life on the Street first, which was created by the same person as The Wire), and so far, The Sopranos just shades Breaking Bad for best TV show.

Nancy Marchand's death after season 2 forces a change to the story line, compared to David Chase's plans for season 3 with respect to the story arc involving Tony, Uncle Junior and Livia.

It's not for everyone, that's for sure but some of the strongest characters in the show were women and many of the weakest were men so accusing it of objectifying women doesnt cut it for me. If a pair of boobs has one turning off then their TV choices are going to be limited I'd say.

Much more controversial was the scene with Ralphie & Tracey which was disturbing AF & put a lot of people off the show, understandably so. I would never criticize someone for switching off after that.

Yeah you could argue that scene and the Melfi scene (I think from the same season) possibly crossed the line from realism to exploitative.
