The alarm bells should have been ringing after rd1 they were like rabbits in the headlights running out before the game last night defeated already Voss said we let the club down tonight No shit Sherlock been doing it all year Everyone on the trade table get some players who can kick some mongrels sack all coaches how can we be so bad going inside 50 Yep we are condemned to years in the wilderness they can shove their membership up their arse

Positives to come out of the game;
1) Only a few weeks left to put up with McGovern's shit.
2) Cerra is trade bait but who's gonna cough up for
a mid that coughs it up continuously.
3) Fogarty and Evans will have an oar each in the Gov/Cerra boat.
4) TDK might as well change clubs now. We'll take the pick thanks.
5) Acres will be in the departure boat as well but will be banned from going near the oars in case they end up on Antarctica.

As I said last week, I'm past caring who goes and who stays.
Cook has failed in his player/club management model in that Geelong were structured so that people took less money in order to hang around for success.

Charlie, McKay, Cripps, TDK haven't done that.
We are a club of mercenaries.

Just a thought, if TDK is worth $1.7m a year then Cameron must be worth $3.4m a year.
Easily twice the ruckman.

Dispirited? I don't think we were Dispirited. I thought we fought hard with an inexperienced team. We were never going to win, and we didn't take our chances to set up shots on goal enough. We won the clearances by 9 and centre clearances by 4, but we butchered it going forward.

As we do every week.

And NOTHING ever changes....

I worked with many Americans and Canadians overseas over a 20 year period in leadership positions. As is always the case we had a our challenges. During some very tough periods their favourite term was it was all a "hot mess". This is what Carlton FC has right now. Tough, considered decisions must be made now. Less corporate waffle and more action required.

No player has said that but psychologically Voss has lot the group. It’s not deliberate, it’s human nature
Exactly. They have only demonstrated an ability to be able to play the game plan for a glorious six week period in 2023 (it could be our video version of “the streak”). The vast body of evidence is that for whatever reason they can’t sustain that type of football.

If the gameplan never changes and the playing group keeps on either getting injured while playing the gameplan or losing while playing the gameplan then they become what we are seeing now: lost and demotivated.

I think you all know at the moment Carlton is not up to it, but tonight even I was surprised by what occurred. Coaching is poor, yes, but the stark reality of what happened last night was the senior players and their lack of leadership on the field. I loved the intent of Moir, Hollands, Carroll, when these guys got the ball, they had a sense of purpose and at least showed an intensity that was acceptable. Cripps, TDK, Curnow, Docherty, McGovern, there is no spirit or emptying out on the field, they are just not prepared to go above and beyond. That is a major issue, the coach questioning standards on the field at 3/4 time from his leaders, the leaders should be questioning standards on the field like all good sides do. The problem is, the standards are poor from the leaders moreso than the youth. That is unacceptable and I am beginning to agree that anyone with currency should be shopped around, a complete change of culture is needed at the club.

Ball use is the major concern as well, you will need to go and recruit players with skill who can deliver the ball and run. At the end of the day, Voss has come in and missed the evolution of football into a transition game, and that is why the playing list is slow and unable to perform up to the level required to be competitive.

The real question is, is this club ready to makes the decisions needed to be made, it starts at the top for mine. The board cannot accept mediocrity, you need a team to come in and sweep the joint out, start fresh, and bring a winning culture. That takes some pain, yes, but you cannot keep going with this every year, a premiership will be light years away unless tough decisions are made. And let's face it, flags are all that matters. It can turn around quickly, if you can be bold at the trade table and bring in a new coaching panel. Keep your chin up and never give up, it will turn eventually.

Why do we keep picking out of form players?

Acres, Doc, Fogarty, TDK, even Cerra is butchering the ball.

Curnow must be dropped too - if he sooks it up, so be it.

Cripps, I'd seriously consider too - Lord can cover him on present output.

B. Campo for Cerra, Pitto and Young easily for TDK (what a lame duck), anyone for Fogarty, Binns or L. Campo for Acres.

Charleston (sp?) for Doch.

And the young sub kid gets a full game.

Imagine being 10 goals down and your Full Forward breaks from the 3/4 time huddle and high-fives every opposition player he can get his hands on while he runs to his position.

I just... I dunno.

edit: turns out Fox played opening bounce footage at 3/4 time because they're shit people.

He what?

Is Charlie going to the Pies at the end of the year? He has certainly devalued himself.

Yeh was highlighted on kayo. Gave Darcy Moore a high five
Who thought Charlie was fit to be named captain of the fwds hahaha what a joke
Imagine asking pendles about Carlton. He hates us, can’t imagine he’d high five crippa

Just to come back to this, apparently it was pregame footage being played after 3QT of the high five..
Pre game..ok
Mid game..no

When I wrote this post 2 out of 112 posters had given TDK the thumbs up for today. On the AFL website it has him as BOG for us! LOL and they wonder why no one trusts the media anymore. Cripps and weitering 2nd and 3rd is a joke too

I said it during game. I have never seen a better structured and drilled side than Pies. It was chalk and cheese

We get numbers to contest and it looks like a rugby scrum. Pies hold their positions and cover the ground. It’s like chess. There is no hesitation. They know what to do in nearly every situation. They nearly always kick to advantage of teammate because they know where they will be

They also do the basics extremely well

We don’t

Wasn't this another "line in the sand" weren't we meant to "stick fat" and all the other cliches this club keeps rolling out, I thought 2023 was the year we finally became a decent club, but I was wrong in a big way.

I love this club, but this club has been slowly killing any passion I had for them. To see teams like Richmond, North, Collingwood etc just toying with us or bully us is a disgusting. This club is all about money and membership, they only call me when they want money or to renew my membership.

We don't have skills, we are slow, one paced, when we tackle it seems like we are going through the motions, Cripps isn't a leader nether are the rest of them in the "leadership" group.

Cripps needs to go, he has been a loyal servant of the club but we need to cash in on his value while we can, one of McKay or Curnow need to go as well. But doubt we get value with the draft being so compromised.

I don’t like bashing players but I think Acres shouldn’t play again for the rest of the year. We cannot have a bloke who butches it like that week in week out
If the coach was fair dinkum he'd of dropped him long ago ... Been horrid this year.

I think people misunderstand the term "lost the coach". I dont think anyone goes out there and thinks "let's not try so we can get vossy sacked".

Its just human nature that if you feel youve been set up to fail and have been banging youre head against a brick wall, eventually its going to be hard to bring 100%.

They're probably still going at 90% but in a comp like the AFL that 10% makes a big difference.

I prioritised sleep last night and watched none of that disaster. We really do have such a worthless bunch.

Any of our supporters who claim we can’t trade from the Cripps/Charlie/Harry/Walsh group needs to be honest with what any of them have achieved playing on the same list together. What they’ve all consistently achieved together is giving up on three head coaches. Surely we need more from them.

Charlie Curnow has kicked 1 goal in his last four games. 3 in his last five games. I don’t care that he’s won Coleman medals. He’s lazy and pathetic. I don’t care that Walsh has won an insignificant finals award. Or that Cripps has won Brownlow medals, he’s given up on yet another coach. Great captain he is.
18 disposals, 9 marks, 0.3, 0 tackles, leave pass?

If you have a slow senior core you need to execute the basics, if you have a slow team who are mentally fatigued, you can’t execute the basics.
We appear to be transitioning the side with youth and speed, however combine that with no change to the senior core and we will become an object of pity very quickly.
A full rebuild is underway on field, with the football dept to follow post season. All options should be open.
This could change quickly for us.

Or, we are playing the youth because the senior core is banged up physically and we have no choice and we will continue to play the slow contested profile when they are healthy again at the start of 2026.

Personally I would like to see bold and creative moves list management wise. I have no idea where we go with the coaching group.

I’m sick of dwelling on the negatives and talking about the same issues every week, it seems little can be done to turn our form around.

On the positive side, there were some good signs from the younger players like Cowan, Ollie, Carroll and Moir. While HO’F struggled a couple of times with the increased pressure and pace of AFL, the 19 year old will learn and be better for the experience.
Yeah I don’t mind tge truth and what is observed even if it comes across ‘negative’. We can’t hide from it.

Totally agree on the learning opportunity tge younger players are experiencing.

I don’t agree with others thst it’s not good for young players coming in and be playing in a poor performing side like we have been.

There are always learnings from being out in tge arena.

Hope you don't mind the intrusion but Graham Wright can turn a club around in 12 months, he did it with us and he did it at hawthorn

and I really believe it. Our list has holes that need to be fixed, but isn't as bad as it's performing.

I have seen it too many times. Get the right people at the top and it can turn very quickly

Nailed it. Well said :thumbsu:
