Review Round 17, 2025 - Brisbane Lions vs. Port Adelaide

It’s the same thing everytime we play bottom teams at the Gabba. We made west coast look better than they are. Melbourne. Essendon. We’re not that good at the Gabba and it’s easily our biggest weakness right now. We did a little bit today to change that, but I wouldn’t trust us in the finals against any team at the Gabba. That’s why I’m hoping we finish 3rd or 4th

We’re going better with the ‘premiership hangover’ than any of the last 4-5 winners…maybe it’s just that I’m old enough to remember the 15 years of tough times but I make sure I keep my expectations under control

We’re down on tall forwards, tall defenders and ruckman…I’m not saying we’ve got nothing to worry about but we’re going ok

Are we managing Dunks to get him right for finals or do we think him spending more time forward is the best option going forward?

No hope of us not putting him in the middle against the good teams I would've thought. He's taken a lot of punishment the last couple of years. Maybe just freshening him up.

Did enough in 15 minutes and then coasted the rest of the way. You’d hope they’d have learned their lesson from a couple of games earlier this year but apparently not just yet.

What I will say is when we apply pressure like we did in the first quarter it’ll take a good team to stop us. When we drop off for large periods like we did again tonight the Pies, Dogs etc will kill us.

To be fair, their kicking was outrageously good. Kept them ticking over from 40-50m kicks on tough angles. Without those goals, we win by plenty.

That was actually really similar game to the GWS game. We were just really accurate this time as well.

Yeah I thought exactly the same thing. The score really seemed to flatter them. We kept making them have to kick low percentage shots, unfortunately for us, they kept nailing them. They weren't getting many easy looks at goal. I was getting a bit frustrated at times at how amazingly well they were slotting them.

Good comfortable win and more importantly no injuries. Thursday night is a MUST for us as we get a bit shaky in those games where the opposition are under massive scrutiny. GO LIONS
