Took the wife last night
Dinner at Southbank few sherbets and away we go.
Then we get two young ladies sitting behind us at the game.
They talk from start to finish.
I mean as loud as you talk in a noisy bar.
By the third quarter my right ear was friggen hurting they were so loud.
Had to politely turn around and say with a smile “ just tone it down a bit please.
They did for a while.
But all the randoms , some great but it made it hard to concentrate on the game.
They were so loud.
Maybe have to shift from the lower level Anyone else finding this problem lately.
Not the first time someone has sat behind us and they don’t even watch the game
Go to a bar ffs
I’d rather be in a bar watching the game at least l know what to expect
Maybe the our section has just changed
Used to be so cool
Was always great to see real afl fans opposition as well.
😞

Not sure how things looked on tv but I felt Fort was beaten by Sweet so Oscar would be a chance for a return.
I felt the same too, not sure it’s a coincidence that our period of dominance in the first quarter came when Sweet was off getting his legs strapped for 20 minutes

How many 4 quarter performances this year?Hawthorn,Gold Coast ,Geelong? Any others.Hopefully proximity to finals will add some application.

The scores we've been conceding at the Gabba have been a concern lately. Port 92 points, GWS 107 points, Melbourne 99 points. Those are 3 out of our last 4 opposition at home.

We go through significant phases during games where we leak several goals and we struggle to score ourselves. Our effort, energy and intensity can be very inconsistent. It felt as though last night we played enough patches of brilliance and that 10-15 minute period at the end of the first quarter where we scored 7 goals in quick succession got us over the line.

Yeah it’s so strange our form at home over the last 18 months. It almost looks like we spent so much time getting to the bottom of our away form that we just took for granted how we play at home, almost like it’ll just happen for us.

I remember back in 2023 you went to the game expecting to win. Even the prelim against Carlton, whilst concerning, the fact we were at the Gabba still gave me confidence we’d come back simply because we just didn’t lose there.

Nowadays you certainly feel a lot more confident that the teams away effort will be more consistent over the course of a game then it is at home currently and effort will always give this team a chance given how talented it is.

One other complaint I have
Well the elephant in the room really.
Rayner
This guy has been given great gifts including brute strength and explosive power.
Which is is going so well
But , well , the greatest responsibility of your goal song.
Pick your act up or else.
Sweet Caroline bump bump bump good times feeling so good.
Oh the memories
Charlie is back so ok can’t be too crook right.

Rayner is much better when he is playing on instinct. When he makes a glaring error, it is usually because he has too much time and he makes the wrong decision. The fiddling around with the ball in the middle and whatever he was trying to pull off, with the short skibidi to Zorko in the last quarter is a classic example. That said, none of them are robots.

The seasons' goal is to win enough games to make the 8 preferably top 4.
This present Lion's side occasionally have a huge win, but it is not in this groups DNA to do this.
Their mindset is just getting the job done and move on to the next challenge.

Unlike fans who would like to see us thump the weaker sides.
Our winning margins: 4, 19, 9, 28, 21, 45, 17, 33, 18, 41, 28. Average of 24 and we had that 1 draw
Our losing margins: Pies 52, Demons 11, Crows 5, Giants 11

We had 12 individual goal scorers v Port.
No obvious injuries to Lions, unlike Port who had 3 that could not play out the game.
Charlie got a bit of confidence back.
Hopefully he kicks 2-4 against the Blues and that may set him up for a decent run to the finals
Andrews last 4 of his 5 games looks to have got his mojo back.
Our top 10 players were just much better than Ports

Morris struggled a bit but opposition teams probably putting more emphasis on how to stop him.
Hippy has had a different role for a while, but it's now time to come good (as a KPF) and relieve a bit of pressure off Morris.
Starch a bit down. He has had three games back and a bye in-between so should get better confidence wise with more games.

Probably not a game to read into, imo. Did what we had to, responded when we needed to and got the W.

Bailey and Hugh - amazing. Fletcher - great. Everyone else - somewhere between solid and meh. Starce had some howlers that are hopefully more to do with rust after a bye as opposed to anything concussion related...

Are we managing Dunks to get him right for finals or do we think him spending more time forward is the best option going forward?
I think it’s a good option. Another player strong overhead that requires the opposition to rotate their taller defenders. Allows Bailey, Ash, Cam etc to rotate through the midfield.

All well and good doing what we had too.......our percentage is lousy against the rest of the 8.

Drop a couple of games and we are in serious trouble. We need to absolutely flog a couple of teams to lift it to a more comfortable level.

We HAVE to start playing our brilliant best, not just for 10mins then cruise, but the whole damn game.

His absence showed it's head far to much for my liking. They stormed away from us a lot through the stoppages when they won it.

Thought Fort was instrumental in our clearances tapping straight to our guys. The Big O not always accurate.
Fort was great last night.

Kai’s woeful tackling cost us a few goals. He really needs to do better.
I'd rather pot Fletcher, Hipwood, Lester, Morris, Ah Chee, Andrews, Answerth, Ashcroft, Ashcroft, Day, Bailey, Rayner, Wilmot and Zorko in the tackling department.

All of those had 1 or 0 tackles. Kai had 4.

The overall tackling from the group has been incredibly poor, I'm glad Fages mentioned it in his presser.

Our percentage is irrelevant MM unless we or others draw again in the run home.

St-kilda ?, but the competitions to even now to expect 4 qtr efforts every week, even the Pies haven't played 4 qtrs everyweek. We certainly didn't play 4 qtrs in final series last year so not sure why you used that as a reference.
