We’re better off without him.

I have no doubt they’ll try to get him back in.

I know what you are saying but Crouch is a ball winner and was playing pretty well before he got injured. Plus experience going into finals can never ever be ignored. To be selected though, he does have to prove he is playing well. But Nicks selected an already future delisted player in Murphy for multiple matches so what do I know.

I think that is very possible IF Crouch can get fit. Tom Mitchell really gave Collingwood something last night and there is still a place for that hard nosed inside ball winner with elite hands in my opinion. Which Crouch absolutely is when at his best.

Have been a supporter and defender of his over the years - but we're a better side without him.

No-one could credibly argue against this ....midfield's are now all about speed & 2-way running ....look at the difference Picket's injection to the midfield has had

In Finals, grounds will be firmer, and speed comes to the fore even more than in soggy winter .....Peatling over Crouch

Can someone explain how Jones is not getting a look over Murphy?

Serious question. Is he just not getting it done in the SANFL?

He has at least ONE TIME torn a game apart, so the hope is there at least. Murphy never has.
Jones has been fine in the SANFL.

There are atleast 6 guys in the SANFL who should be played before Murphy. Probably more.

Selectors are idiots.

Thanks Maffew

I think we're just waiting out the clock on Jones contract.

Didn’t see Mitchell the other night, but my recollection of him is that he takes forward steps in the contest and challenges opponents to tackle him. Crouch stops and props and doesn’t challenge opponents in any way. They know he’s limited and can leave him in possession and defend those within his 5m range.

Players should be get max 5 years on the list with multiple chances. (Talls the exception)
They shouldn’t be limping over 100 games without showing much or anything.

Reckon both Jones and Pedlar need a fresh start at end of year. They’re not turning it around here and another year in the 2s will be career over. And as they’re contracted, maybe we could upgrade 3rds into 2nds.

That's kind of the risk with a rebuild (or stuck trying to compete when you don't have the list) though. You're going to have a couple of guys who scrape through and can hold a best 22 spot for long enough to get there because you're in a period where you've (purposely) suppressed the quality of your list (and which is a move that isn't guaranteed to work either).

There will always be footballs survivors, who are good enough to hold a bottom spot in the line-up and gatekeep the kids who aren't legit.

Those contracts hold negative value at this point as neither hold best 22 spots.

The biggest issue for both is the club they've got squeezed out at, seeing they've spent most of their time at a club who's in a rebuild. There aren't too many better circumstances for a kid to carve a career out of if they are good enough.

I doubt that

The 0 games this year (and inside mid role in the SANFL, which has a habit of being a dead man walking role for guys who aren't Draper) speak otherwise.
