Having Gardiner as our sub is beyond frustrating. Imagine the game on the line and we need some impact but we've got Gardiner to bring on. Sad lion
i'd normally agree but i think he actually makes some sense atm

No Payne so we are vulnerable down back

hippy and day struggling to impact so he can sub for one of them

and we are playing short down back so ewe can shuffle around if a mid goes down

my biggest issue is exclusively using the sub with a few seconds to go!

Don't get me wrong, I think we're incredibly lucky to have him playing off half back while Kiddy is out and when his kicks come off, it looks like a million bucks. I just think his use of risky corridor kicks is being telegraphed by the opposition a lot more and yet he still does it, leading to scrappy play or turnovers/opposition inside 50s.

I think the crack down on 15m kicks is hurting him the most. Missing the super easy short ones being an option so he's going for a bit more from time to time.

The cheating done on the mark and around the protected area isn't ideal for him either.

I agree with this. I guess I am hoping he adapts to the circumstances instead of trying to take on the wrong kicks.

I must say I did enjoy the little rumble after that no name port player kneed Zorko on the ground. I was watching Fletcher pretend to rough a power player up while looking around to figure out why everyone was fighting. And with Zorko you know it could have been for anything.

How that’s only a fine is a bit confusing that knee on Zorko. Sure he didn’t wind up and put everything into it but to me that’s a week.
There’d be players lining up around the block to sink a knee in on oppositions ribs that get under their skin for just a couple thousand fine.

We should be coming down harsh on these acts and rubbing guys out for a week.

I'd prefer to start with Gardiner as he will make our backline better.

Especially with all the uproar of tagging tactics

The coverage of this game was basically all about Zac. In particular, no game analysis of Port's injuries and SPP's season ending injury. Very disrespectable to Port IMO.

Doesn't fuel their "rage" over the succession plans, so just ignore it. Also, I will be waiting for the Zac, Daniher and Fagan to Tasmania or St Kilda stories this week ;) .

Agree with the posters who say Zorko is taking on the impossible too often. It's okay to go for the outlet kick once in a while. Don't have to bomb it down the centre every single time.
Needs someone like Fletch nearby as a second pair of eyes telling him to 'stop' or 'go'

We didn't even play 4 quarter performances in the finals last year except the GF. Most teams won't the majority of weeks.
The problem is that we switch off totally and allow heaps of scoring.Maybe we could switch off partly and have a stalemate with little or no scoring but we seem to let some other teams score way too easily at times.

Which shows that we switch off in defence and application of pressure but still run the other way.

Day 1 handball and 2 hitouts. Can't see how Fort and Oscar could be worse than one of them and Day
Structurally he works a lot better for us. I don't remember him being out marked on the weekend either. With only Aliir out there though, that probably isn't surprising.
We still haven't lost a game with Day in the team. Hippy is looking better with Sam out there and so is Logan who was coming off two 5 goal games. It's not always about his stats, I didn't really see it until he went out and came back in but he does a role for us whether he gets a heap of touches or not and we win when he performs that role.

Regarding our draw and if another happens in the H & A season.
Once again, the AFL have their heads in the sand and refuse to play extra time.
FFS they have extra time in the finals as a draw stuffs up everything.
But it is okay for the AFL to possibly stop a team making it to top 2, 4 or 8.
A rule enforced for all of the season, but it's okay to change that rule come finals time.

We are not soccer with very reduced scoring, so a draw is acceptable in that code.
The AFL doesn't stop a team from making the top 2, 4 or 8 because it allows draws. Teams do that by drawing instead of winning.

With percentage being important does it not then make it unfair? Let's say we were even on points with another team, that team instead of having a draw, got to extra time and smashed the team over the 2 halves of extra time and beat us on the ladder by a percentage of a point. I would be livid. That team has had extra time to score points and make up their percentage and premiership points.
There is nothing wrong with a draw. Neither team won. Why anyone makes a big deal out of it, I will never understand.

Day played in the Collingwood and GWS losses

Fair enough. The other part of it would be to test Oscar at AFL level to see if he’s still up to it without the risk of losing our only ruckman
Then do you need to play Day as the emergency?
If we aren't confident of someone's body holding up over the course of a game, when we have a back up who is as good or just about, we cannot carry them into the game. I think it's been borne out that it normally bites you on the ass.
