Autopsy Saints forget how to kick a ball and lose to Hawthorn.

Given our shortage of talls, our ladder position and our injuries at the time, I'm flabbergasted we didn't use the rules and make a spot available.
So you're suggesting we should have punted a player to the long term injury list? One that we expected to play in 2025?

Some of you guys are absolute jokers 😂

Reneging on the agreement to draft a Sandy player wasn't a great look.... imagine if we forced a player on to the long term injury list who wanted to play? Boy oh boy.

It's all well and good to say Cordy is sh*t, Dow is sh*t... let's put them on the LTI. But that in practice is not realistic.

Cordy going on the LTI makes sense lol. It’s poor list management not to do it.

He definitely won’t be at the club next year, but instead of trialing someone new, we’re stuck with a list clogger until the end of the year.

Dumb decision by the club

Poor Hastie had a real stinker in the first half.

His first 3 kicks he turned over in the middle under minimal pressure he was having an absolute mare.

He did improve in the 2nd half though and took a good hanger and then linked up in some nice play pin pointing passes.

He definitely had a 1st qtr to forget.
Showed enormous strength of character and resilience to overcome that horrible start - and his running spoil to save a certain goal from Chol was very impressive.
Got to give him more games. Many.

You can't put a player on the LTI injury list against their wishes lol.

It's based on doctor diagnosis of the injury.

It doesn't work like you want it to and would be a terrible look for the club if it were actually possible.

Which it isn't. It's not a reality.

This is Bigfooty. What’s reality got to do with anything?

i am losing faith in our small pressure forwards by the day
Higgo played a lot better when Butler wasn’t there. Owens too.
Time for Collard again?

He always plays around 70-75% game time. Playing him is like playing with two subbed players per game.

Time to move past him for sure. Hasn’t got the tank for AFL footy. Never will.
75% TOG average would be fine. Clark is averaging 58% this year.

As much as I like the fact that he can make things happen at times when others couldn't, his shortcomings are out weighing his strengths at this point. I'd be giving that spot to Boxshall for the rest of the season

Well the mid season draft was 6 weeks ago - and its 6 weeks to the end of the season - and Cordy is still isn't fit for selection and is uncontracted for next season and will not get a new contract for next season.

Maybe Cordy didn't agree but it would be unprofessional if the club didn't explore the option.

Apparently was looked pretty disinterested for Sandy yesterday. But yes.
That’s what they said about him last time he was playing there. People were surprised he was selected. But he definitely showed something on the big stage. Maybe he’s just that player.

I'm sure they explored if any players on the injury list were going to miss the rest of the season - that's the entire basis of getting a list spot available for it lol.

I'm sorry for being crass but I just don't understand this line of thinking.

Of course in an ideal world Cordy would have just f***ed off so we could select someone like Archer May. But that's not realistic. And a club can't treat a player like that no matter how much they might want to.

Surely we can put this mid-season draft chat to bed once and for all? There is nothing in it.

You’re right. He is rightfully pushing for selection during finals 👍🤦

Absolutely correct.

Although Cordy remaining on the list appears as likely as me winning Powerball, you can’t deny him the chance to play again for Sandy and make his case for retention.

The part of the second quarter where Clark was not in the midfield rotation was the part where Hawthorn walked out a bunch of centre clearances and kicked three goals which was essentially the margin in the game.

If you like footy the way it used to be played (so far as "win the tough ball" and "kick to a forward leading at you" is concerned), you should like Hunter Clark. Midfield wasn't the problem on Saturday night, except when he was playing somewhere else.
Yeah this. Sure it would be great if he could spend time on the ground and he occasionally gets caught with the ball, but we have done a lot better in the middle recently since he has been playing again. It's the real subtle things he does very well. Very skilled at getting his wide body in the way and getting his hands on the pill cleanly for a quick release. Links up really well when we do those quick chains of hands in traffic (which I think is something I've noticed we are getting better) Does a lot of smart positioning and blocking to clear channels for our guys whilst making it difficult for the opposition. Is never going to be a hollywood burst away from the stoppages type player but I think we are definately better when he is playing.

Club should have done it. It was a mistake not to do it. Tell Cordy he's not playing seniors regardless, put him on the list.
I think the point has been made that Cordy couldn't be put on the LTI without his approval any more than we could trade Nas for Zac Butters if Butters doesn't want to come to St Kilda.

LOL but how can you do it when it's against the rules? Riddle me that.

Mate, you are really struggling here 😂 Time for a lie down before you further soil your already questionable Big Footy reputation 😬

King pretty clearly could and should have been on there tbh. Hard to argue we didnt **** that up.

Yeah, and they literally said in the telecast "$1.2 million, they've matched the offer from the Adelaide clubs"

I just shook my head and stared blankly into my cup of tea for a moment.

A lesser man would've smashed his TV into a thousand pieces.

And still, if you suggest he should be offered more, given St Kilda allegedly has "more cap room than any team in AFL history" numpties on this forum will say "it's not about the money for him".

I wish I was joking...
We are going to pay a premium because the reality is he wants to live in SA
