Unpopular opinion: Dempsey is a big talent, but very, very vanilla.

Needs to go when he has to go. Doesn't always do that. He is clearly a very good player and when on is one of our best, but needs to be more physical when the time comes.

He is like the anti vanilla prospect. At times I wish he could be a little more vanilla

Been saying Stevens is a JPK mold since I first laid eyes on him.

Kennedy took a while to get going after being traded from the Hawks to Sydney.

Stevens has those traits... just need to keep working on his game.

Has the size in spades... has the skill... has the leg... has the leadership... just keep grinding away at his gut running/fitness and he will tick most boxes.
Given the talk by other players, where George is a first in, last out sort of a guy, I know he’ll get there.

If other players see it, the coaches do too

Pop survey: Which flavour of ice-cream would you describe Ollie Dempsey as

a) Vanilla - classic, minimalist and everyday
b) Mango sorbet - fruity and runs a little more and a little quicker than all the others
c) Bubblegum - gets the 10 year olds excited but not so much the purists
d) Choc top - not the greatest quality but just gotta go with it and sit back and watch the show
e) Pistachio - who would've thought it could work this well?
f) Mint choc - it was the last left when you got the front of the Mr Whippy queue, but now that you have it, you wouldn't give it up for anything

He's the Ben and Jerry's of the ice cream world. Massive flavour, packs a real punch and is absolutely top notch. But sometimes it's just a bit too much.

He's a victim of his own mercurial ability but I do agree he does need to go harder at times.
I do worry how he'll cope in pressure finals.
Looks bad when he hangs back from a contest hoping to have it come to him , sometimes you have to get in there and either win it , help a teammate or force a stoppage.

Dempsey's building out well. With time, I guess he will get more comfortable asserting himself physically in games.

That's one thing I liked about Zuthrie. Even in his "Auskick kid strays onto the AFL Team" days, he didn't flinch.

Push polling! You just made me hungry..

crosta:.... fully agree with you speaking in glowing terms of George Stevens but I reckon it's a 'big mistake' to use a 'horses for courses' approach with George and I'll tell you why, cos I reckon George is the best inside mid we've had at the club 'in years'. Has an elite footy brain, positions his 'young' strong body brilliantly in contest and is so creative with 'superior hand and foot skills', better than Dangerfield and Selwood in that area, especially in congestion and his is only 20 years old. Reminds so much of former Sydney Swans champ in Josh Kennedy and coincidentally they are pretty much the same height at 189 cms with body strength and weight comparative when George fully matures. George Stevens is virtually a Josh Kennedy clone, Mark 11 version and I'd love to see the Cats MC play him in every remaining game of the year to prepare him for finals which will be 'hugely beneficial' to all concerned. Mark my words this kid is going to be a future elite inside midfielder of the AFL competition and we certainly don't need to recruit guys like James Worpel from Hawks when we've got this kid who in time will be classes better than him, we've 'struck gold' with this kid.

A number of Geelong BigFooty posters would be currently aware that I have a huge opinion of George Stevens and I have stated that I reckon he is the best inside contested mid we have had at the Cattery 'in years' and I went on to mention in the above post from last Saturday that George reminds me so much of former Sydney Swans champ in Josh Kennedy, 'a clone' (see above post from Saturday) and much to my delight although previously unbeknown to me, Paddy Dangerfield had come out early in the week on SEN and said in reference to George Stevens "Joey Kennedy, he's so similar, it's frightening" and coming from Paddy I reckon to be sure we're definitely on a winner with George!

PS - In Wellsey, Mackie and the development team we trust..... and GO CATS !!!

Please refer @ 4:42 for commentary in regards to Danger speaking of George Stevens
