Zac is a better player than Cam ever was. And Cam was very very good. Won a Carji of course.
But Guthrie the younger is just so consistently reliable. Hardly puts a foot wrong.
Blitz - yes what a recommendation! The ultimate swiss army knife who Scotty has used as a template for much of the rest of the team, as Bucks and Piggy said in the weekend's commentary. Not 'ever' allrighty:.... remember Cam playing in back half in a final when he was young and he showed so much talent even back then. Also, Cam was equal best and fairest winner along side Jezza in our 2022 premiership year which unfortunately has been his last full playing year and you don't win B & F's without being ultra, ultra consistent. Preferably allrighty: I'd rather for us to acknowledge how blessed we've been to have had these two great awesome brothers being such wonderful servants of this great club and with Zac to have many more great years ahead of him.
But yeah, the two brothers in Cam and Zac have been bloody awesome for this amazing club and PS allrighty: as it was through Cam and his Cam's dad that Blics was recommended to the club from junior footy days, so all up it's been one hell of a journey and ride with a win, win, win situation the moment Cam walked through the Cat doors as a kid all those years ago!

Comment of the day was them talking about Dempsey being 68 kg when he was drafted and Piggy said that was his weight when he was 4 years old.
And maybe it's time for another Blitz thread.
Probably a fair assessment and perhaps I am suffering recency bias. But gee Zac has come such a long way from that skinny kid at the start.I found myself thinking the same thing whilst watching the game on the weekend. I couldn't decide who was better in the end so I'm calling it a draw.
He’s good, but he’s not as good as Cam at his best.Zac is a better player than Cam ever was. And Cam was very very good. Won a Carji of course.

there was a Cats Hawks game where Roughy outmarked Zuth and goaled many years ago and this place went full Ken Bruce - the vitriol was acidic and plentiful about the mere existence of Zac.Probably a fair assessment and perhaps I am suffering recency bias. I was wondering about that. How he would go in the guts, not that I want to see him there. He’s good, but he’s not as good as Cam at his best.
Yet.
Cam could probably do what Zac does. I don’t think the inverse is true.
I was right behind him at the time. We were coming like a steam train and lost by Roughead’s pointthere was a Cats Hawks game where Roughy outmarked Zuth and goaled many years ago and this place went full Ken Bruce - the vitriol was acidic and plentiful about the mere existence of Zac.
Prob wasnt even Zac's man but he ended up on him and did his best which in this case wasn't good enoough.
However, Zuth has the last laugh.
Im guessing a few should head to the IWW thread......

I just rewatched the last 2 minutes of that game and Cam was actually the more culpable of the two brothers in the dying minutes, first for a htb that gave them possession and then for a terrible kick that turned the ball over. There was also a non-call on a clearly deliberate oob that was mind-boggling.I can still remember the still photo from that mark, and Stewart is trying to run his guts out to get back to the contest but was never going to make it
Roughead definitely wasn't Zach's man but he was trying to do the right thing and at least put a body on an open opponent

Easter Monday 2018. I assume that's the one. Roughy marks and scores the point to win the game. Same pocket as the Bartel one. What was the game?
You're not wrong, that was a bad minute. Ironically the other bloke who turned it over was one J Selwood. Of all the players...I just rewatched the last 2 minutes of that game and Cam was actually the more culpable of the two brothers in the dying minutes, first for a htb that gave them possession and then for a terrible kick that turned the ball over. That game was the end of an attacking game plan for the GFC for the next few years, IIRC. We started to play the most boring football on earth till 2022.Easter Monday 2018. I assume that's the one. Roughy marks and scores the point to win the game. Same pocket as the Bartel one.
We were quite dour 2014-2018 too I thought. Maybe moreso than 2019 onwards. The Covid years almost everyone played terribly boring football. Slowest/safest ball movement years Champion Data had on record. Ironically the two premiers - Richmond and Melbourne - were the teams that bucked the trend. That game was the end of an attacking game plan for the GFC for the next few years, IIRC. We absolutely were, but I thought that 2019 was the absolute nadir of it. Sorry - I meant to write "any" attacking game plan.We were quite dour 2014-2018 too I thought. Maybe moreso than 2019 onwards
Interesting. I have a bit of a different view. We brought Rohan in, who livened the forward line up significantly. Ablett moved forward as an attacking creator. Miers came in. Kelly really exploded as an aggressive midfielder. Duncan had his most attacking year. Stewart was probably at his peak as a proactive rebounder. We absolutely were, but I thought that 2019 was the absolute nadir of it. Sorry - I meant to write "any" attacking game plan.
We had this real bits-and-pieces backline, and I think we went too far in protecting it.

2022.never really good at the same time, did Zac steal Cam's football powers?
I disagree with that, given Zuthrie is taking over from Stewart. Cam was never even close to being a Stewart type player when he was in the backline. He could lockdown on players or be more of a Touhy/Duncan style neat rebounder. But he wasn't an aerial/contested interceptor.Cuthrie could do what Zuthrie does if Zuthrie could do what Cuthrie did, they wouldn't be entertaining throwing Mullin through the middle.
