Were obviously not poorly coached. The defense is humming, the forwards work very well together, and the midfield rotations have kept evolving through the year. None of this has happened by accident.

Our depth would be some of the best in the league. We now have senior bodies on every line who can step straight in.

I think we're short a premium mid, but we're now not missing much.
The most sensible post I've seen for a while.👍

Good changes.

I thought they'd go with Peds, but it's also hard to ignore Cook's form.

I'm happy for Jones to be given a shot. Has played through the guts where he has been dominating as of late, so I imagine he's in to allow Rankine to rotate forward more.

Zac surely sub.

Everyone's gonna have their own opinion but I'm not really sure about the impact either Jones or Cook bring. Anyway, I'm looking forward to them proving me wrong live at Marvel on Saturday.

EDIT: I just want to clarify that I am not complaining that Murphy is dropped, and as okay as Smithers has been I would have thought Milera comes in for him pretty easily.

I would have chosen Pedlar but if we've been arguing that Nicks needs to give a broader range of players AFL games across a season so that we go in to finals with some depth then you can't really complain on those selections.

Also ticks the 'reward SANFL form' box with Cook, something we've not often done.

Don't have much faith in Cook being able to do much in our forward line makeup, would have preferred Pedlar but hope he proves me wrong.

Jones and Cook both have low Footy IQ but decent skillsets.

The opposite of Murphy.

Both deserve one last chance though. See if their Footy is smarter with maturity.
With Cook at least it should be, was drafted after very minimal footy, so it makes sense he should improve. Who knows with Jones but hes probably in the best nick of his career.

Pedlar a little bit unlucky but he didn't really offer a huge amount in the games he played. Could easily come in if Taylor doesn't have an impact again.

Interesting

If they like a 7 man defensive zone then I can see Jones slot in there even with Milera back in.

Cook I think is the Murphy/Rachele replacement

Milera for Smith , Jones a floating 7th defender and Cook forward with Taylor sub

Murphy doesn’t have footy iq

Smith and Murphy out! Christmas in July!

Presumably Cook for Rachele, Milera for Smith, and Jones as sub? Or Jones for Taylor and Taylor goes to sub?
Or it could be Rankine for Rachele, Jones (or Taylor) for Rankine, and Cook to sub. They might think the #1 thing we need cover for is scoring power. Would allow eg a Tex sub if he’s poor again.

Id be surprised and disappointed if they played Jones off half back.

I'm a Jones fan but I'm a bit worried that last SANFL game was too easy and he didn't have to concentrate much on his opponent, do that at AFL and you'll get burned badly, still, hope he goes well.

Feel for Dowling, what's the guy gotta do?

Happy for Cook to be in, really keen to see how his improved form translates at the next level, not expecting him to go real well but should do 30% more than what he was doing before.

Thought they might've brought in Murray for this forward line, hopefully leaving him out doesn't prove to be a mistake cos Butts and Keane can both be a bit shaky at times.

Yeah he does. It is the one thing that got him to the AFL level.

Skills and aerobic capacity poor for an AFL footballer.
Severely disagree, someone with footy iq who is 2 foot tall doesn’t go smashing wrecklessly into their own players flying for a mark that was never theirs.
