I've seen some post-injury crashouts but holy shit this one's crazy. The captaincy thing is more reasonable, but pronouncing him cooked? Ice cold take: if you're top 10 in the AFL in your position and play well over half the games, you're a useful player to have around.

He’s played 50 out of a possible 64 since becoming captain. A lot of those games missed were from a contact injury (broken arm) which is basically impossible to prevent.

I didn’t see that comment, I thought it was just a general comment.

He’s played 50 out of a possible 64 since becoming captain. A lot of those games missed were from a contact injury (broken arm) which is basically impossible to prevent.

Injury prone players can go patches unscathed but that doesn’t mean they aren’t vulnerable. Fyfe played 22 games last year for example. You want to be able to trust the captain of your footy club and a pivotal part of your defence to be able to run out a season but we can’t.

Was feeling somewhat confident going into this one, confidence definitely gone down a peg now.

Hawthorn are the number one team in the comp for marks per i50, we are dead last in that area. A KPD duo of Cox and McDonald against Chol, Gunston and Dear does not inspire confidence.

As for Pearce, FMD. We cannot rely on his paper mache body at all. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a re-aggravation and he’s out for another couple. We have too many injury prone players.

Disagree. It might not matter from a tactical perspective but it definitely matters from a motivational perspective. A lot of players talk about “walking taller” when they run out beside a captain or a respected figure at the club.

If it doesn’t matter then make Serong captain next year, f*ck the player vote.

an off season recruitment is needed.

As use of runners is so limited in modern football. You need captain and leadership group to make those calls as needed when things are going wrong, lack of positioning, too fast . too slow.

Leadership group need to take notice and make the calls until the next interchange can bring a message from coach or what for the Qtr time breaks

Pearce is 30. Have no KPD coming in.
Draper and McDonald aren’t close to his physicality.

Has had to change roles due to Pearce injuries.
He’s not a 1 on 1 defender. Wants to be Barass. Unfortunately he can’t due to lack of defensive depth
