If NAS is gone, I would be okay with executing full rebuild mode. Trade Steele and Marshall. Consider 1 of Wilkie or Sinclair.

That should generate 4 first rounders on top of our existing first rounder. Add 2 additional first rounders the next 2 years we are trash and you are looking at bringing in 7 first rounders over 3 years on top off our existing talent.

By 2028 we would be a side choc full of talent, still with cap room. Its bold, and we won't do it, but I would support it.

If we don't retain NAS there is no immediate chance of success if he leaves. I can't even fathom how bad the ball movement will look for a Lyon coached side without NAS in it. He is quite literally our only offence.
I think tassy will enter the draft next year or the years after. Not the best time to have heaps of picks

Although he will never be as good as NAS - Hastie could become an A grade half back

If anything Sandy form is not always relevant to how a players plays AFL level.

Henry
Keeler

Like with Naz when we should have taken Sinn instead ….
Typed a reply but had a problem and it disappeared.

So a much shorter one, Sinn was picked after Nas we passed, you obviously wouldn’t trade up every year.

If you can’t see the advantages of moving up to grab the player that your paid professional staff have identified as a generational talent then I can’t help you. Does it not seem strange to you that the cost of moving up is roughly the same as what you’d pay if you could get the same player 3 years later minus the massive contract and competition from every other club.

Case in point Callahan or Anderson who according to itk’s we could have had twice. What did Carlton pay to move up and grab Jagga smith ?, kid looks a gun I doubt they’ll regret it.

We have been a stupid poorly run club yet cry when our actions meet the consequence's. We’ll leave no stone unturned apparently yet this is an obvious one we have talked about but have never had the courage of our convictions and actually made happen.

If there was a gun mid in this graft that the club though was a 10 year AA I’d do it without hesitation.

Hey don’t worry though we’ll eventually land a gun like Nas or draft a mid and if all else fails pull of a brilliant move like TDK on $1.7 million.

Trading out Marshall, Steele and a Wilkie and we can get access to first round picks now. Tassie doesn't impact that.

For the NAS trade we may simply have no choice but to accept future first rounders from Port. They can't make Bergman or Butters go against their will.

Ultimately, the accepting the rebuild part (Steele, Marshall, Wilkie gone), would generate picks right now.

This is our last chance to put our hand up and admit we need to go full rebuild and get maximum trade value before its too late.

If NAS goes finals are absolutely off the table the next 2-3 years anyway until some of our younger blokes get to 100 games.

Personally, I think people are being far too spooked by Tassie coming into the comp. It is not like they are getting guaranteed access to the 10 best young kids every year into the foreseeable future.

The draft is already compromised. We just have to make lemonade from lemons. The worst thing we should be doing is attempting to let Lyon off the hook by bringing in existing B grade talent instead of picks.

Not Wilkie 😖😭 I don’t think I could stomach seeing him in other colours

That Jase Burgoyne interview is wild. Don't think I've ever seen a player talk so much about an unsigned guy. Kind of freaking out a bit.

We absolutely have to be willing to walk away from the deal if it's not overs. We don't need to do Nas a favour here.
Agreed its a line in the sand type moment

For all those that need to hear it, there is no way NAS leaves this year unless Curtain or Butters / Bergman / Berry are involved. His manager will be aware, Adelaide will be aware, Port Adelaide will be aware and SOS will be aware.

It's the reason the most noise has been around '2 years'. Giving Adelaide / PA 2 years to get their shit together and acquire appropriate trade value while we will be hoping that our performance and direction are enough to keep NAS emotionally invested here. ( Something akin to Papley )

The Chicken Little crew and doom spiraling on here is quite something.
This is legit the stupidest thing ive ever read on here but i guess people tend to cope in different ways.

If he goes, and players aren't involved, we're talking their next two future firsts at a minimum? And given the uncertainty with where those picks would be and Tassie impact, probably at least a second as well.
You can't do that. They need to hold one as per the rules.

I’m not as end of the world if Nas goes. We would need serious compo and 1 first rounder wouldnt come anywhere near what we need. Having that said I think he stays for the 2.
I still think our stocks are strong if you give the kids time to develop. Pou, Windy, Mitch, Darcy, Trav, Gus Hastie, Viking, Hall, Max K, Dodson. Don’t think there is any need for panic just some calculated list decisions. Out Marshall in TDK, Aleer and a couple of 1st rounders.
Port will not be anywhere near contention over the next 2 years so Nas would need to resign himself to being in the same position or possibly worse. He won’t elevate them into contention but good luck if he does go that way and hope his mates get around him when he finds himself in a list changing and with less development.

I feel like I'm watching a different player to some of you people
i think coach ginnivan woke him up staurday night, hawks half time,im sure he and others decided hastie is the worst player they had ever seen and rightly so,ginni relayed that to hastie, tore up his jumper, then we saw a fantastic half of football

A grade not quite on the table yet,but very good signs

There is a way to stop all this angst around player movement, stop clubs doing what Carlton seem to be doing with TDK, and not frustrate the fans who stress for months not knowing whether their favourite player is leaving...

In season trading.

I just hope we don’t get stooged in a trade for nas.

Bailey smith trade wasn’t fair at all

Shits me no end , they get Smith for essentially pick 17. A few years back they trade out Tim Kelly and west coast just throw early first rounders at them. Then there is the WTF Jack Bowes, situation. Was no other club seriously going to look at him for less than Pick 7. (.And Bowes is probably no worst than our group of second hand Carlton players ). Its like rebuilds just fall in their lap.

The only problem with this idea is that the exact same thing happened last time. He was rumored to be heading home in 2023, but agreed to sign a 2-year extension.

Adelaide & Port have had 2 years to position themselves for a trade. Since Nas resigned last time....

  • Port traded their 2024 1st round pick for Pick 23 in 2023
  • Port Traded their 2024 2nd round pick for Ivan Soldo in 2023
  • Port bought in Jordan Sweet, Esava Ratugolea & Brandon Zerk-Thatcher
  • Adelaide bought in Alex Neal-Bullen
  • Port bought in Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins while trading out their 2025 1st round pick
  • Adelaide traded out their 2025 2nd round pick for James Peatling

There's no signs of any effort to gain trade capital to secure Nas at a fair rate from either side, both have reduced draft hands in 2025. And any future picks a fraught with danger with Tassie getting into the draft soon.

Yuck. Further Americanisation of our code.
If there was any integrity it would just be media blackouts on it till the season's over.

Before season 2025 they may have been reasonably confident but after NAS season and also perception in the industry especially after sam Mitchell's recent comments his value has increased.
They simply don't have it now
