Aside from the hit i actually thought he played ok. Busted his gut defensively covering the holes that were popping up like a game of whack a mole. I think if we're talking about MOC tonight we might be having the wrong conversation
He was fine. There are way bigger problems out of tonight’s game than MOC.

Just don't forgot that once a whipping boy, always a whipping boy to some

The AFL needs clubs sending weekly enquiries over the standard of surfaces. SCG and Engie are disgraceful and that's the 3rd time since R1 2023 that Stewart has got injured from shit turf.

If it's the surface, and not just his luck, he can't be the only one. Would be interested to see the damage to other Club players. Nothing to gain really, moneybags AFL won't do jack, as evidenced by the landmine Metricon has been for years.

Not sounding like a know all , but no surprise to me at all , i said pre game i thought pre game that GWS would win comfortably , just as a said Carlton and Bris would when they played Geel . Geel struggle against certain sides with their style of play

I rarely bet on football , bar a couple of finals in particular GFs , i could have won some handsome money re the 3 games i mentioned above , but i will never bet on a Geel loss , there is no joy in that to me , youd have to be pretty hungry for the quid to do that

The Cats like all teams in the comp , there are plenty of holes in the lineup - but the finals are at the MCG and the Ade Oval this year , both grounds they play exceptionally well

Looking at the fixture Geel have got quite a few gift games , but there are a few similiar tricky games , where if your a Cats supporter with any clue , youd have bad vibes about them .

Just got to get to the finals , hopefully everything clicks and they are still a good chance

You clearly known nothing with this response. I have known other physios who take this stance but sure mate, you know best
A club doctor at another club sat and watched as players were injected with all sorts of things. I think your point is deluded.

Your expectations that being overruled, they’d drop their bundle and leave is laughable. This is a professional sport, either way, the medical team just provide advice. The professional coaching team decide to believe it or not.

If a medico can’t take that and is offended to leave, phark right off then.

But that won’t happen. That’s La La land stuff.

I dunno. While it's true that his game didn't have a bearing on the result either way, and that he'll always be a whipping boy in some peoples' eyes (especially now that they haven't got Parfitt to hate at), I reckon he let himself down a bit. Gave away some uncharacteristically undisciplined frees, slow to react at times, clearly frustrated, missed a tackle or two that would normally stick like superglue, and let forwards get goalside of him too easily. But you're right that he worked hard all day, as always, and his disposal was once again beyond reproach.

He was on a hiding to nothing, and as predicted by some this game was always going to be a massive challenge for him.

However, therein lies the problem with George - the games that matter are going to be played like tonight’s game. They will look nothing like a game at KP against a pedestrian midfield. If he is not suited to a game like tonight then he is not really a viable player.

I am not giving up on him - he is still very young and inexperienced. But I don’t know if you can teach what he needs to improve on to be able to impact games like tonight. And that could be a problem.
Yeah I'm not really disappointed because I kind of thought it would pan out like this tonight for him. Reckon he could go well against the Saints, but if he can't play in games with open space what do you do with him?

He needs to become an elite gut runner or he doesn’t have a future in a good midfield. He will need to be a player that wins by running his opponents off their feet, because his speed and quickness are going to be a liability, and speed is not something you can teach unfortunately.

Your expectations of a pay packet is totally deluded.

Cameron looked like a one-legged giraffe on an ice skate.

He was having no impact, and was obviously going to be restricted even further.

Leaving him out there only risked aggravating the injury. There was no upside really.

And left an incredibly dangerous Idun to run freely from defence.

A poor coaching move.

Stewart had one his best games of the year. Martin looked solid again. Neale's progress is amazing.

Holmes, Baz very average. Danger, Jez, Bowes completely anonymous

Stevens struggled against AFL level players but I still believe in the boy. OHenry needs the rest of the year in the 2s

Martin was as solid as an Elvis soft serve : Banana with peanut butter and marshmallow sauce.

Cameron, Stewart, Dangerfield all injured early. That’s got to make a bit of a difference. There were a few players under par too.

I thought the cats frequently got into good positions where they had two players leading to the ball facing their goal only for the ball to somehow bounce awkwardly and get behind them into their opponents hands. This is pure luck but it felt like the happened at least 20 times in the game.

A bad day all around.

I was really surprised he wasn't subbed given how sore he looked, and the fact he's one of our most important players.

Lose him for any length of time and our fortunes would be heavily impacted.

Yeah, I'm not saying i would have him in the bnf votes, just that he just wasn't the issue.

It's really tough to hand out accolades after a day where i would only feel ok about giving out votes to Neale and Miers. Maybe Mannagh, Guthrie, Stewart?

One other thing that was very noticeable at the ground was that GWS were very happy to let Bailey run around without a hard opponent.

They were banking on his possessions being non-damaging and whoever was playing on him would try and burn him the other way given his lack of defensive efforts.

Baz had one of the worst 26 possession games I have seen in quite a while.

Their tactics worked perfectly. Other teams will be watching for sure.

Crazy. One of your season defining assets with a clear injury, yet you sub a young guy who’s got little impact on the year.

Irrational decision by the coaching staff.

Stewart for sure.

J Henry battled manfully also.

Was at the ground and it was one of those games where early on you could tell it wasn’t going to be a good afternoon.
Absolutely blitzed in the midfield - outclassed and out worked by Callaghan, Ash and Whitfield. Everything else stemmed from there, really. Atkins tried hard, Smith was Ok but a little down and Holmes was very poor IMO. He was not running and creating like we have come to expect these days and his disposal was rushed and ill-conceived a lot of the time. We are 1-2 quality midfield rotations short and this will set the ceiling for us this season at semi final/preliminary final (if we’re lucky).
Turnovers and defending transition is still a big problem for us when we are not on song - Brisbane and now GWS have exposed this.
I thought Neale was a big positive out of the match, and I thought Guthrie and Jack Henry were very solid. But without a bigger player like De Koning or even Blitz down back - and with the delivery inside 50 they were getting - we were never going to stop Hogan and Cadman.

He tries hard but if I was an opposition forward I'd be happy with a COS match up. Not convinced on him as a defender. Good at intercept and general play but gives the opponent too many easy marks. Wish we had Kolo.

Otherwise the mids really were ordinary
He will come good but you are right he is a little flakey at this point in his career and maybe a little cooked for a young tall at this point of the season
