Mills? yep i hate to say but Punts may be right even in the last the crowd knew mills had to go get the ball and he waits for it to dribble out and it wasn't going out and they got it

lots of lazy efforts it's one game but wow if that's his captaincy maybe focus on footy
Also, I know it is a small thing. But why isn’t Mills taking more questions post match and through the week?

It’s great to empower others, but he comes across as missing - especially now he is playing week in, week out.

Really hope they revert to co-captains next year.

I mean it’s one week, but today was first time I could see him off the ball and he did everything that his critics suggested, he does some good stuff as well, but some of the desperation and effort you need to lead by example is randomly lacking.

I have always thought of Mills as a tough bastard, so is he fully fit?

Either way maybe he yeah needs to share the load

Rowbottom tackles and defends well don’t get me wrong at all, but heck me he goes wide a lot with the ball and to the sky, not suggesting he is near being a problem (gave him votes) but maybe he needs to be smarter with the ball. Having said that if guys like Blakey and Gulden butcher it hard to mark Rowbottom down for it

Not a lot of love for Hamling today. I thought he was superb, not flashy but doesn't get beaten and positions himself so well. High IQ player. I can't recall him getting beaten at all today. Played his part along with Melican.

Hamling doesn’t loose touch at least

Great gritty and stirring win in the end for the Swans.

It is becoming a real struggle to watch the game with the inconsistent decisions by umpires. It’s actually killing the enjoyment in watching the game. Some real shockers and it did tend to favour Saints late and in field position.

Would be great to see a few posters who have potted Lloyd, actually balance out there views with some praise for his efforts today. Played as a small forward and 3 goals, was credit to all the other work he put in.

Buller and Gus have great connection and thought they both took another step in their development, fantastic to see.

The Lizard needs to play forward. Throw Bice back to his role and let him have a crack for 7wks to see if he can play there.

Hayward and Grundy were exceptional today, really liked both their games. JJ had the NWM job but found his run hard to cover, rare enough but he got beaten today.

Saints under Ross Lyon are always hard for us to beat, Cox responded well. Outcoached for 3 quarters, but got over the line in the end.

Gulden goal from Grundy tap was elite, was absolute clutch and shows both their class.

Saints had too many intercept marks making it easier to move the ball versus not many intercept marks for us in D50 which made it harder to move the ball. We lacked a bit of dare with our kicking today.

Roberts needs a spell in 2’s, not sold on what he is selling, would prefer to see Ollie play his role. Think he slows down out ball movement.

We are still alive, onwards and upwards!!

Roberts Bice and Blakey back at one stage and not one of them had any ****en real awareness where their opponent was.

Roberts was close to mason wood a few times and it’s like mate he’s run off ahead of you wake the **** up you are guarding grass.

They failed to capitalise on that at times luckily, and we won some 50-50 contests that stopped it being an issue in the last, but wowsers , maybe Mccartin going down and Rampe out meant we lacked organisation down back.

The amount of times we go wide or back and forth then wide, Blakey kicked long and wide so many times to nothing, one time in the 3rd form memory he had a few goes because it kept coming back,

Either we have an odd go wide, play zone and just bomb game plan, or we have some odd decision makers/confidence lacking players.

Heart shown in the last quarter against 4 extra don’t get me wrong and it turned into a rock fight and we showed some metal, voices got louder, very pleasing, but if we didn’t **** about so much it would have been a comfortable win. Again very happy, but the reason we aren’t in the 8 right now is because of the stupid decisions we make week after week

I think Gather Round debacle aside, Rowy's ball use has never been an issue for us. He's not Pendlebury, but I can't recall one game in his 130 odd, other than that Collingwood one, where I've thought, "FFS stop giving Rowbottom the ball" the same way that I have many many others, including my favourites like Lloyd, Heeney, Gulden. And guys who are out of the 22 at the moment like Florent, Bice etc.

Generally speaking, the more involved he is, the better off we've been. I think he plays the percentages well and knows his limits, but also knows when it's time to try something bold, and he generally pulls it off and can have the odd moment of real class.

This year he's kinda been all over the shop and hasn't looked confident with the ball, but he's got about 25 mates in that regard.

More than 25 and maybe he actually is having to try to do more because others refuse to/can’t do more and he is willing to move it on, we have a lot of players who play let’s make it not my problem and at least Rowbottom is willing to go **** it, and kick it forward. I’ll take his effort any day of the week

He might be our 14th best player but he would be first picked every week.

Agree 100%, I just think if everyone does their job he might get 23 touches and have 14 handballs

3-2 with him in the side, 5-7 without.

You know I’ve backed the guy, but the efforts were odd today. It’s not necessarily captaincy, and we play better with him, I just didn’t think he looked like himself around the play and if they announced next week he was carrying something I wouldn’t be surprised. I saw some brilliant footy but also lazy efforts, disorganised efforts off the ball and dopey play like kicking into an opponent, waiting for a ball to roll out that wasn’t going out late in a close one.

I certainly won’t change my mind on him being a leader one week in, but it was a bit eye opening live today , there was a patch in the last he went off and we played better, (coincidence probably).

I have gone from wondering why we need multiple captains back 20 years ago to thinking maybe we should have stayed with what worked for us.

I've kinda had it with McInerney personally.

Seventh year now, over 100 games in. The laziness and sloppiness and half-heartedness just isn't going away.

Felt the same for 3 and a bit quarters then he kinda dragged me back in late, guess that’s the whole team.

I’ve said we need a rejig and if he was part of a package that got us something I wouldn’t cry in my sleep

Funnily, I felt like we were out coached all game.

Was the lift from the players and a difference in talent that was the deciding factor in the end.

Really glad to see Buller keep developing, had a great game today.

Individual brilliant moments won it

Mills is a better player when Rampe is there.

I'm not sure why that is.

The defence looked lost, so maybe it is Rampe being out, if so thats a worry

I've defended him so much it's nearing Lloyd/Hewett/Aliir areas but it's feeling increasingly like the critics of his are the ones that are right, and me saying "he's better than what he's showing" so often is making me look like a goose.

Yeah but he came over and said hello pre game. So yeah
