Not sure what he actually offers us these days. Had a decent patch of form a few weeks ago, but can't hit a target or apply a tackle.I've kinda had it with McInerney personally.
Seventh year now, over 100 games in. The laziness and sloppiness and half-heartedness just isn't going away.
Mills as captain is a problem, not Mills the player. There's no doubt hes a better player than the next one we have in line, but hes not captain inspiration, he's not the reason we got over the line today, far from it.3-2 with him in the side, 5-7 without.

So how do we get Hayward to have a superficial injury just so that he can go into beast mode
Pretty sure I hadn't called for him to be dropped until a few weeks ago. You've been shitting on him and calling for him to be dropped all year.
Because rampe is a leader and mills is notMills is a better player when Rampe is there.
I'm not sure why that is.
Yep no good and wish him well, wasn’t much in it either.Just saw the Tommy Mac incident on replay.
Awful to see him concussed again. Scary.
It looked so soft.Just saw the Tommy Mac incident on replay.

Did fine without him last week. I dont think Rampe would've stopped the brain dead turn overs. The defence looked lost, so maybe it is Rampe being out, if so thats a worry
And then they randomly pay htb, at least a couple against us, even when the person getting tackled eventually disposed of the ball whilst in the tackling motion.. umpiring of htb/incorrect disposal is genuinely diabolical league wideTwice in this game (the Saints player HTB and the Rowy throw) the umpires paid a free that wasn't there because their view was obscured.
If they can't see one, don't pay one.
It's better for an illegal disposal to be let go than for legitimate disposals to be penalised.

Agreed, I think a Leadership group of Mills captain, Rowbottom Gulden and maybe one more in Jordon would be goodI’m in the co-captains camp but I think it is hard to argue that Mills leadership and organisation does not help the defence.
The defence looked much stronger once Mills came in, the effect was immediate. I thought at the time it was a bit of an indictment of Rampe’s leadership up until then.
The defence also got weak when Mills shifted into midfield today.
Which is not to say that I think Mills is an outstanding captain - quite the opposite. I think he would be a solid member of a broader leadership group.
Since you were at the game DQ can I ask, did you notice how if Mills was organising the defence or his own positioning?Just got back from Marvel (bloody freezing!) and thought I’d go all AFL.com
7 things we learned
1. Umpire no. 13 is a cheat
2. Will Hayward plays the odd game where he’s the match-winner. Tonight was one such game. Brilliant in both offence and defence. Seems the more banged up he is, the better he performs.
3. Gus Sheldrick had a cracker. Played under significant duress & was in a lot of pain in Q3. I suspect he had to get needled up for the shoulder. That tackle on W-M was game saving. It was notable that Chad went to him at full-time and gave him an extra big hug.
4. Zone defence. Why? Q2 it was killing us & there was no shift to man-on-man. Left me a bit worried about Cox - Lyon out coached him in my view.
5. Our defence misses Rampe. Not sure there’s a leader down there in his absence. And that includes Mills.
6. Rowy stuck some absolutely critical tackles. He was instrumental in the win. Easy to under-appreciate the work he does off the ball too.
7. Grundy is in superb form. Rowan Marshall toyed with McLean - but Grundy had his measure. It was a terrific performance.
I’d never been to Marvel before, but it’s a very impressive stadium when Essendon aren’t there to stink it up.
I hear you. I don't know that I agree but fair enough.Mills as captain is a problem, not Mills the player. There's no doubt hes a better player than the next one we have in line, but hes not captain inspiration, he's not the reason we got over the line today, far from it.
He's concussed, he's in the concussion protocols. He should be debuting anyway but this could be a perfect match to rest Tommy even if he isn't concussed as North don't have the greatest talls.
