Cox first (maybe?)I confess I didn't really notice Windhager (though he racked up disposals); Steele OTOH I thought was outstanding.

Just picked up a copy of the Sun Herald.
They publish very comprehensive player stats. One that’s interesting is “Pressure Points”.
It’s a fairly complex formula, but from last night, our highest scorers were:
1. Rowy 97
2. Chad 46
3. Gus 43
4. Roberts 35
Lowest were Francis (6), Blakey (10) & Buller (11).
Just thought it was interesting that Rowy was more than double anyone else. He’s a machine.
And Roberts clearly works hard, albeit sometimes a bit untidily.
The other interesting stat: Heeney had the lowest disposal efficiency on the ground (must be an outlier!) followed by Wicks & McI.

I don't concur. I think he is ensconsed.Agreed. Not quite first-picked yet, but has bought himself about 3 matches

I also can't understand the elastic 15m. If you pass the ball then 15m is really tiny so the umpires call play on, but if you are running with the ball and not bouncing, then 15m seems to be a very long way.I don't think the umpiring favoured one team or the other that much, but it is just bad ... period.
So many 50/50 contests are paid as free kicks, and then the exact same thing happens and it isn't a free kick.
One or two wouldn't be a big deal, but it is over and over again through the entire game. To the point where I have no idea what is a free kick and what isn't.
Can you hold in the ruck? or can you not? Can you smash into someone with front on contact, or can you not? If there is a forward and defender both holding each other, who gets the free kick? It seems completely random.
That was an astounding no free. It was obvious to even Blind Freddy, that was a bloody free. Great chase down by a 200cm player. The club really should take that to the AFL and say, this simply can't happen anymore. This sort of umpiring is what is turning fans away from the game. It makes me incredibly angry. The same happened at the other end and they got the free. The umpires, I am not sure that is plural but there was at least one who was giving Saints some really soft frees and not giving us any. ApparentlyImagine if the free kick for HTB was paid to Buller 25 in front, would have been a bit more deflating for the Saints. 11 points up.
Didn't affect the result took but some Grundy and Gulden greatness to get us back into the lead
Campbell was yelling at them to come at him on several occasions. Nobody moved. They had been coached not to. It wasn't the game plan. But bombing was. I thought when Jack Buller, Hayden McLean, Arron Francis and Wil lead up they were rewarded with a good kick to the chest. In the lead up to Hayward's 3rd goal? Agreed it was a fantastic contest win.
Campbell also summed up the situation beautifully waiting for Wilbur to get into just the right spot and delivered a perfect pass.
Back on Buller, I loved the way he just put his foot through it on both goals. I've seen too much of Amartey and McLean laying off and spraying it.

But we were spraying the ball so badly to set positions. Mills, Gulden, Even Heeney and especially Blakey sprayed it like a gardener spraying Roundup.

Why are you asking ?Sheldrick shoulder is ok ?
Don't reckon Ross Lyon gives the votes for the Saints. Watched his press conference and he was a bit dismissive of Grundy. Probably delegates it.Cox first (maybe?)
Grundy 5-4
Windhager 3-5
Wilkie 4-1
Hayward 1-2
Steele 0-3
Rowbottom 2-0
Cox 8-7 Lyon 6-9
Seems fairly likely. If so they sure saw it very differently! Reckon they were Saints three best, arguably ours too.
Won’t know until the injury list comes out.Sheldrick shoulder is ok ?
Still more reliable than Geelong’s injury list which included Tanner Bruhn’s “finger” injury for awhileWon’t know until the injury list comes out.
Because the Swans injury list is always the most reliable source of truth.

I counted five McInerney kicks in the first quarter. All were costly. Several missed their target, one missed easy set shot and another was a terrible kick out of defence which came right back as a Saints goal. Even when he attempted to tap the ball to a teammate with both hands he also missed. As I said in my follow-up comment, I'm not criticising him based on this one performance, but on his cumulative performances. I don't need McInerney to star. I need him to stop having so many games where there's literally about a dozen examples of the most half-arsed, over-casual "efforts" you'll ever see.
JMac is an enigma. He is our best for hitting up a leading forward, but probably our worst for taking a shot himself. He is a turnstyle when it comes to tackling, but his anticipation is extraordinary as every match I see him cutting off an opposition handball out of traffic or a kick to one of their players. I think he is the cream on top of a hard-working midfield but not what a midfield is actually built on.I counted five McInerney kicks in the first quarter. All were costly. The guy makes good position and gets around the ground. He hits contests fast and pops up for uncontested marks or to contest/spoil opposition marks. His hands are usually good too. Those are his positives.
On the downside, McInerney hasn't been able to kick for sh&t since he came back from his injury in 2024 and scrubbed countless balls along the turf. He can't or won't tackle so despite his mobility he adds little to the pressure game. He seems to prefer style over substance
By contrast, Campbell shares McInerney's positives without the downside. He kicks like an arrow and tackles like a hungry wolf pack. His only downside is a lack of faith in his extraordinary kicking ability. Cox needs to tell him to take the shot
The body language with Cox suggests Juz is coach's pet, while the far more reliable Ollie Florent remains banished to the twos.
Yep that was a costly shocker for sure, as was the Port game, but the Crows and to a lesser extent the Dee's games cost us valuable percentage to put us not only 3 games out of the eight, but also 15% behind our closest rival.Nup, it was the Essendon loss.

Even if we go unbeaten for the rest of the season, that % lost in the Crows game in particular, will in my opinion, be the bridge too far.
Hayward did exactly the right thing in that situation. If he leads towards Campbell he just gets further away from goal and ends up in a spot where Campbell could just have a shot himself. With no one in front of Campbell the right thing to do was either hold position and wait for your opponent to have to peel off and go to Campbell (which is what Hayward did) or lead away from Campbell toward goal.Campbell was yelling at them to come at him on several occasions.
