IN - Ryan, Gross/Kelly
Out - Cripps, Owies

Don't agree at all with those saying we should drop Champion.
His disposals were clean and he was a crucial part of a couple of scoring chains.
Nearly took a pretty slick contested mark. And spotted a great corridor option on the counter with a pinpoint kick to match.
Keep him in all season imo, what's the point of gifting games to a soon-to-be-retiring Cripps.

EDIT: only advocating for Kelly because we have a very winnable game at home in front of us - he may not deserve it but with Graham out we are more likely I think.

Agree on kelly, if we were playing anyone besides Richmond I'd keep in him in the WAFL but you'd think Mini would have to be tempted to chuck him in the guts this week.

In: Ryan
Out: Long

Backs: Edwards, Bazzo, Ginbey, Duggan, Cole, McCarthy, Dewar
Mids: Reid, Hewett, Hough, Hall/Baker, Hutch, Maric
Rucks: Flynn, Williams
Forwards: Williams, Shanahan, Ryan, Cripps, Owies, Brockman, Baker/Hall
Sub: Champion
Emergencies: Kelly, Long, Brock

Baker to spend more time in the middle as a senior body. Otherwise Ryan back in, Champion to sub, Long out. No room for Kelly.

Didn't see the game last night but what was wrong with Reids goal kicking action last week?
So you didn't watch the game but make 5 changes?
I didn't watch the WAFL last week but saw more than enough of Archer's goal kicking in the 10 or so AFL games he played this year to be pretty confident that he isn't a forward. Think he will make a great ruck though.

I just don't think playing so many small fwds is the go.
Totally agree. We need some bigger bodies in there that can play 4 qtrs. Champion isn't ready to play at this level.
I don't rate his 4 kick 3 handball effort unlike some others on this forum. When a team has the most players with 10 or less possessions they always lose. We had 9 against port.

Despite kicking a goal I'd say it's Billiams turn to rotate through the WAFL and find some form/hunger again.

Considering A.Reid didn't play and probably hasn't done enough to walk back into the side i'd just go smaller up forward and let Jilliams do ruck chop outs against Nank.

Out - Bailey, Cripps, Champion
IN - Gross, Grego, Newton

Schlong to play a full game, Newton to sub.

Kelly stays for another week. The WAFL game would've given him loads of confidence as a midfielder, now let's see him build on that, don't just rip him straight out again, it didn't work last time.

Out- B.Williams and Hutchinson.
In- Ryan and Grego.

Bailey had a disgusting game. His bread and butter is to compete hard at every contest he completely let his team mates down yesterday. Don't expect him to take mark of the year or kick bags every week but getting beaten by zerksnatcher multiple times is unacceptable.

Hutch still too many fumbles. Grego can bring the same intensity and deserves a block of footy before the years out.

Thanks for everything Crippa, but this week is your final week to say goodbye to the fans and hang the boots up.

Really liked what Malakia was doing don't want to see him sub to start the game.

I didn't see the WAFL game. Whats does it matter, whats the problem with the 5 changes specifically?

Ryan was rested because he was sore, I need to see the WAFL game which he didn't play in in order to make a change to bring him in?

Gross was a travelling emergency and has been in great form in the WAFL the past 2 weeks, in games I've watched go look for my posts in the match day threads if you like. Did missing Saturday nights WAFL match mean I can't agree with plenty on here that gross should come in?

Cole came in for Allan, didn't play well and its a fundamental development vs games to a senior player who's out of contract argument. Missing a WAFL game stops me from making that change? I read the game day thread, I know Allan played and got through uninjured and wasn't bad, so I can make a call on him that we can switch those guys again- especially since Cole more than likely came in specifically to release Baker forward which was probably a Port specific tactic.

Cripps has kicked 2 goals in the last 5 weeks and is clearly due a spell, do I need to have watched the the WAFL to say it's finally time for a spell?

Our defence against Port was poor outside of Harry Edwards, Bazzo was ok but Brock didn't deserve to go out and from all reports was excellent in the WAFL, problem with suggesting Bazzo play as a 3rd tall and Ginbey [who had a shocker] might benefit from playing small for a week since he can go either way?

Only controversial call is that Archer [who missed WAFL due to hamstring awareness] could be worth a recall to play 2nd ruck, allowing Williams to spend more time at full forward and rotate with Jobe. Jack Williams was serviceable as always but the coaches hadn't selected him to play and wanted to try Jobe and Bailey as the main targets, having to switch Jack into the mix changed the dynamic. I'm suggesting the coaches back themselves in and either play with 1 less tall like they planned against Port. Or recall Archer to release Bailey given he's a better 2nd ruck than Jack Williams.

Also btw in the WAFL game you didn't watch last week, Archer Reids 1 shot on goal was clutch and he gave away several to others after doing the hard work and winning the ball, he's doubling Jack Williams for goal assists so whats the difference if he gives them off rather than kicking them himself, we still get the goal either way.

All that said, it doesn't bother me if we keep Jack and go 3 talls, drop Jack and play 2 talls, or drop Jack and play Archer. The other changes are more important I'm more concerned with the small forwards than the tall forwards.

Everyone wanting Kelly to play WAFL this weekend need to remember the Beagles have a bye.

Not saying he should or shouldn't be called up, but he can't play WAFL this week - so if you want him to play another WAFL game, it has to be the week after.
FFS didn't they have a bye a few weeks ago. I'd forgotten how many damned byes there are in this stupid comp.

The bolded was all that you needed to say.
It read like you hadn't watched the AFL game so changing 20% of the team after not having watched the game at all seems an odd thing to do- evidently that wasn't the case.
Regarding Archer, I don't think anyone disputes what he brings to the contest, but I'm sorry, to be a key forward you must be able to kick set shots at a reasonably high %. Archers set shots in the AFL were absolutely deplorable and he really struggles to kick over 45m. Great that he had one good shot in the WAFL but it is major flaw in his game as a KPF and needs serious work if they insist on him being a forward. BBW was a shocker too but seems to have finally improved his set shots so all is not lost, but I reckon Archer will end up a very good ruck.

Post was made yesterday just after we played s oi thought referring to the game from the night before would indicate I was talking about the WAFL game.

In any case I also haven't argued that Reid should be in the side as a KPF. I want to see him get more ruck minutes, you think he will make a good ruck. We're not picking him as a first ruck, so.... dunno, think there could be a solution here playing him for a few games as the 2nd ruck. It's not too hard an argument to follow that there are 2 spots up for grabs, KPF only and 2nd ruck who rests forward. Jobe is contending for KPF only, Archer is competing for 2nd ruck resting forward only, the Williams twins are competing for either. There is a fair bit of naunce to debate there without people constantly tipping their toys out of the cot at the suggestion Archer Reid is in the mix, with their cries of "but he can't hit the side of a barn.. oh, he did kick a goal? Yeah well he can't kick it 45m though."

You have correctly recalled that everything that is being said about Archer Reid and his goal kicking was being said bout Bailey Williams and now his kicking is fine. Nobody wanted to waste a draft pick on Aaron Cadman because he kicked the ball like Archer Ried and now he's miraculously fixed his goal kicking. Meanwhile Jed Walter has done the reverse Archer Reid. These things have a tendency to evolve just suggesting people keep an open mind on his kicking improving. Its really neither here nor there though as he doesn't need to be as accurate a kick as Jobe or Jack or Jake, because he can make his case for selection bringing value outside of KPF as either 1st or 2nd ruck. Doesn't mean banish him from the forward 50 forever just because he can shank the odd set shot.

This is a very winnable game, we need to win it to give the boys some belief. Sad to say but Cripps should be done, and Long didn't really give us much either. Cripps out for Ryan, Long out for either Gross or Kelly - reckon if Mini takes Gross aside during the week and reminds him of how the last Richmond game ended then gives him a full game this week we might see something special.

Kelly should get another run in the Wafl, but is needed back (same as last time). Surprised he's left out if it's a Wafl bye. If he has one good game against Tigers for a win then it's a win-win?

Would like to see what Newton has to offer, supposedly has explosive speed, power and contested ball winning ability - according to WC propaganda, which also says "Owies will instantly make our forward line better" - curiously Owies has no other personal attributes/skills mentioned other than being an ex-basketball player.
But important to get some senior balance in the team, midfield especially, and try and seize this opportunity to get a win at home.

Also like to see Chesser get a trot. Not sure if Gross is ready. Grego no.
Has Allan done much?
Need Ryan. Agree one of Cripps or Owies.

all I hear is Kelly BOG in WAFL. the others not much or not ready

Given there is a WAFL bye, have to alter my tips to address the Kelly selection.

Out: Champion, Cole, Cripps, Long, Jack Williams
In: Kelly, Ryan, Gross, Allan, Brock

F: Ryan, B Williams, Owees
HF: Brockman, Shannahan, Dewar
C: Duggan, Kelly, Maric
HB: Baker, Brock, Bazzo
B: Ginbey, Edwards, McCarthy
Fol: Flynn, H Reid, Hewett
Int: Hall, Gross, Allan, Hough
Sub: Hutchinson

Owies kicked 33 goals last season which is fairly good but he's no where near that level this season, he goes long periods without even getting near it.
He doesn't have the skillset to thrive in a genuine bottom side. Given his age it was an utterly bizarre piece of recruitment. Was it a 3 year contract?
