This might force ICC to make two divisions; England, India And Australia at top and then everybody else lol
Ummm South Africa are the current world champions.

What a sad day for International Test cricket, i'm old enough to remember the halcyon days of the Windies greats of the 1980s when they had a magnificent batting line up . This team has some very good bowlers, but they're all rabbits with a bat in their hand. A sad day for the former greats, Greenidge, Haynes, Richards, Richardson, Lloyd, Lara etc who must be feeling like crap right about now! Obviously cricket in the West Indies is almost a lost cause in 2025?

Nope.

In the last Ashes series - on a non-subcontinental pitch - Lyon picked up 8 wickets before getting injured. They tried to go after him in Edgebaston; the grounds here aren't soccer grounds, so don't have the square shape and compromised square boundaries.

They'll try and go after him again, where the Indians - who, funnily enough, is the only opposition Lyon has played against since - were canny enough to try and milk him when he bowled.
That was pre-torn calf Lyon though who had strong form behind him whereas post-torn calf Lyon is certainly showing signs of not being as potent or consistent.

No doubt he starts the series in Perth but how he goes there might dictate what they do from that game on especially with another pink ball test looming in what’s proven to be fast-bowler heaven in previous pink-ball Tests in Brisbane.

A Bazball England is certainly vulnerable to spin but that’s only really been evident on those subcontinent tracks. My mad idea is if things go pear-shaped to start the Ashes the Aussies go full Pakistan and scarify the rest of the pitches with old nails ect. & get the giant fans out like they did and go with both Lyon & Kuhnemann, as I back our team easily in subcontinent conditions over them.

Top 6 - 0, 4, 0, 0, 0, 2 - total 6.

Also, 7 ducks.

I wonder where they sit in terms of (unwanted) Test records?

I was also wondering where 6-11 sits in terms of lowest Test scores with 6 wickets down.

(Don't really have time to investigate/verify this stuff atm).

Carl Hooper totally despondent on the ABC.

Do you blame him?

I’m not even from there and I am actually filled with some misplaced optimism for them based on the other facet of our cricket, and I came close to tears watching those first 6 wickets. Thankfully I left before it finished.

But ok what does it actually mean aside from a really embarrassing new entry in the record books? I mean the series in general?

We already knew the West Indies batting has been dodgy for a fair while and they said ok we will try something different this series and our aim will be to hopefully win or draw one match. Didn’t happen. So the batting is no closer to a fix. Same problem.

What IS known now, though, that can be clung onto like that door in the titanic, is that the potential In the bowling department is real and not just something that there’s been some glimpses of. That’s something to build a team around. ‘Ok boys we can base ourselves around this. We’ve got an attack. Let’s fix the other problem.’

At least that’s SOMETHING. I hope the former players and pundits can put some emphasis on that to balance the despair

The T20 explosion has been a major factor

That's going to be interesting, just watching the Poms last night. If they maintain Archer's fitness, along with Wood and they probably play Gus Atkinson over Carse, eventhough he looked good in this test. Also along with Stokes, suddenly their bowling looks better to go with their batting.
If our batting can't perform, and l'm not that confident it can, considering the top order issues have been a consistent problem a few years now, these Ashes are going to be hard to win.
England have absolute rubbish in the spinners category, so maybe that where we can get them...
Think Poms would rotate wood and Archer if both are fit.

Not going too well in tests but have two t20 world titles.

West Indies social media team have been very quite on Facebook and Twitter after that result.

Hardly heard a peep.

Now I haven't watched the whole Test match but what was the reason for the send-off from Starc to Seales?

Did Seales do something to him during the game?

And as I speak , they are blowing up on Caribbean Cricket Podcast on Youtube Live:

It was a bad innings to end the series but all sides have particularly bad ones from time to time. The fact that it was the last innings of the series makes it perceptibly a lot worse - no chance for redemption, the memory and doubts linger a lot longer.

Like you say the overall batting performance wasn't great either but not expected to be. That last innings is best forgotten, move on. It happens.

I’m in utter disbelief at that scorecard. So much happened so quickly.

An Alzarri fifer, Starc 400, 3 in the first over, fastest fifer. And then a hat trick from Scotty B?

All while I was asleep and missed every moment?
Reminds me of the time I went to bed during the world cup match after I thought the Aussies were clearly going to lose with Maxwell and Cummins in against Afghanistan.

Make no mistake the whole world will be in shock when they wake up tomorrow morning.

Thought he was krishmar for a second, and was about to point out that krishmar had never played a game of proper cricket in his life

Richie would love his t20 batting aggregate though

That's what they are upset about after what the WI just served up? Really?

Dear Lord, I don't think this was on anyone's bingo card list.

I know our bowling attack is lethal, but it must be infuriating being a WI bowler.

The Josephs were lethal yesterday, only for it to count for nothing because their batsmen play down the wrong line too often.

Credit to Starc, in his 100th Test no less, and Boland for doing Boland things.

OK I saw a reply tweet from Adam Collins saying the Windies players were getting into the Aussie players ears throughout the test match. Im assuming Searles is one of those guys who gave lip.

I dont usually see Starc give send offs so I assume he had a bit of a score to settle or wanted to release his emotion.

I was just going to post the same.

It was only 15 or so years ago that Australia could well have been looking at a similar score to what the Windies achieved today - we were 9/21 and it was only the GOAT's efforts that got us to a comparatively respectable 47.

Similarly, England were 9/27 against NZ in 2018, before Overton did a GOAT and scrambled them to 58.

Unfortunately, today the WI didn't have a GOAT/Overton to lift them out of complete oblivion.
