You didn’t answer the question, what would you have done differently?

The goal being sustained success and not just a sugar hit.

If I'd done the rebuild we would be playing finals already. Pretty sure you could go back and read one of my football manifestos if you were keen enough.

I don't understand why Nas would care. If he wants to go home, it's exceedingly rare that it doesn't get done, with one club generally being on the receiving end
Because a deal as it stands is bloody difficult to get done unless they trade out senior players.

They have a FRP 1 in 2026 and 2027.

And Joe Berry.

That isn’t a great hand.

We were promised complete transparency about our list and what exactly we are.

We got that.

What, who has given complete transparency? I must not be getting the emails from the club.

I understand, but that's not Nas' problem. The manager will ram through a crap deal for us, just like Port got screwed with Houston last year

But why would Nas care? That's on the clubs. They get shit done if a player wants out.

Obviously our offer was going to be larger. Good to hear we've all but secured him.

I wouldnt get too caught up in the financial difference. I'm guessing our offer is a few years loner which contributes to the shock value of the figure plus is including many incentives that are long shots to be ticked off. The number the media reports is almost always inflated.

Cutting the list hard and hitting the draft harder is your explanation.

Because if a deal can’t be agreed. What’s his option?

The draft? He will never make it to port or Adelaide.

Yes he is out of contract. But the whip hand is with us.

No point having cap space if you can’t use it to acquire players.

Ross has been vocal about his desire to control the air during games.

Yeah, that isn't tranperancy. That's just doing what ever they want.

Players have all the power especially with them uncontracted. They aren't obliged to give us fair value, just cobble a deal together.

Usually you spend big dollars on stars not 19 game fringe dwellers and project rucks. Get us another Nas level player instead.

Sometimes midweek when I get caught up in these threads and all the Nas back and forth, I forget there are still games on the weekend. 🙄

Carn the Saints! 🤓
i had to catch up about 10 pages yesterday, for about 9 of them there was no nas talk at all,the ruckmen mostly took center stage, probably the last 2 pages nas made a comeback, but only a comment here and there, back to business as usual today

the affirmers
the woe be me guys
the"gone"bunch

got the rest of this page 582 to peruse, then 583 before i settle into a couple movies starting with saddele tramp 1950 on my night off here in pattaya,as i leave on a wednesday, thursday is the day i shove a weeks spending money into my wallet, yesterday i treated myself to a trip to the money changer to give myself a budget increase,so tomorrow my pay rise kicks in with a clear mind

They don’t happen overnight. Judge Ross when the under 22s have another 20-40 games under their belt.
We owe Ross nothing

How about Judging him on his last 7 years coaching

Yes, doing whatever they want. It didn’t resemble a plan whatsoever does it.

And they have no way of getting him if we say no deal.

Absolutely rocketing up the DeStiNaTiOn cLuB ladder!
According to Tom Morris:

GWS : 2 x $400,000 = $800,000
St K : 4 x $750,000 = $3,000,000

A difference of $2.2m in the two deals.

St Kilda offering a 4 year deal and not 6 years.

Terms for Aleer are considerably less than the rumoured $900,000 per annum.

Yep, funny that. Will be the same with the supposed $1.7m but alas the sky continues to fall

Absolutely nothing wrong with this deal.

So we are paying Aleer the same money that Perryman got at Collingwood.

Which automatically proves your point wrong. Perryman isn’t a star

That's an atrocious offer from GWS. Basically asking him to walk if that's the case.

Adam Simpson basically laughed at Tom Morris insisting the media were being fed accurate numbers from player managers.

Used Tim Kelly's contract as an example - which he actually read firsthand - saying the media were so far off the actual number despite what they claimed.

I wanted to rebuild through the draft which I think we could have managed at the same time as sitting just off the pack. Never been a fan of bottoming out. We are paying now for all the sins of Trout and Lethers. If we were stacked with guys now in their mid 20s, we'd already be in a natural improvement run.

I'm shitty because we should be better than we are now and we are looking like we are going to cut hard again to buy time instead of trying to improve quickly. You can have too much of a good thing.

The club can't afford to spend 5 years ****ing around again. We need to give a return on investment.

You have no idea how good the kids will be. We have a big pool of youth which should mean a better return than the past efforts but there are no guarantees. Also if we start losing the best players we aren't going to get better.
Yes we are.
But they’re long gone and we have to work with where we are now.
It’s like going over the Paddy / Petracca thing again.

Ross has gutted the list over 3 years.
But where do you think we are going to cut hard again?
Jones, Boyd, Gus, Cordy, Howard? Heath?
Probably the same amount of players every team cuts and tbh besides Howard ( and Jones) none of the others have contributed much at all.

Agree with the losing players part - and if NAS went it would be a gut punch. Only mistake regarding him would have been should we have recruited him with the go-home factor. It was debated long and hard on here, but imo was a risk we needed to take. I doubt we are losing any other player we don’t want to lose. Windy will sign. He’s a Ross prorotype player, they’re not letting him go. Roma, well we’ll see. Doubt he’s with us when we are hopefully starting to challenge anyway.

There are never guarantees. It’s life. There are injuries. Mental health issues. Shit fixtures.
