Elijah has played a lot more than i thought he would considering the amount time he was off his feet last year. He has been putting in a mountain of work over the past few months so not surprised he is getting a rest.

Well considering Richmond's best players are their senior guys it makes sense to have some older guys to help out.
Problem is Richmond best 4 or 5 are better than ours so if they get off the leash they bring the whipper snappers along with them
yeah was listening to suma on the drive into work.
i agree re selecting petch. basically anything other than a win will be an abject failure now.
reminds me of 2021 when simmo would omit the youth for experienced players and we'd go on to lose anyway as they were not fit.

Yes, he was quite solid defensively, grunt work, stoppages, tackles etc but seemed to find it difficult to get clear space and impact the scoreboard. Should see a better version after another preseason, providing the foot biz holds up.

You can argue the merits of the selection decisions, but we were incredibly inexperienced last week and it possibly cost us the game. It's not completely ridiculous that the match committee wanted to add just a little bit experience. It's not like Kelly has suddenly been forgiven for his crappy form. He's been dropped twice now, and is very clearly on notice.
IMHO, the Petrucelle decision is more bewildering. But I suspect it's pure charity. He's out of contract and the club are giving him a few games as a lifeline to save his career, in the off chance a Victorian club might be desperate enough to pick him up.
And by Victorian club... I mean in the VFL.
