I also didn’t realise quite how shit they are until tonight…. Terrible strictures, skill levels poor…. They can’t sustain pressure. Didn’t realise they had so many problems
Noticed a lot of their blokes a bit thick through the middle too. Bottom of the table aerobically

Was nice to see:
  • Us crack in for longer than 2 quarters.
  • Charlie kicking a few goals, especially his last.
  • Doc's tackle and goal.
  • Moir step up and give us what we've been waiting for.
  • Cowan, Lord and Carrol showing plenty.
  • Young do some nice things.

Just me or was there more of an emphasis on tapping the ball on to advantage, instead of going the possession and getting locked up, or was it just instinctual? Often seemed like out small forward types especially were doing it.
Drives me mad when we just don’t bother to do this - always trying to take possession whatever the situation

Nice to win and to see the younger players compete well all game.
Dees have some big issues too.
Our continual long bombs forward are hits in hope, very little overlap run and short passes that create space forward is so noticeably absent.
We are missing some players and we showed some good game sense but our flaws are so apparent and if can see this it’s hard to comprehend the coaches can’t.

Young kids shone through and we get the 4 points because of it. Carroll and Cowan ridiculous. Hollands, HOF, Young, Lord and Co all were big as well. Hopefully they keep growing in confidence
Not sure how I forgot Moir but he was in the ridiculous category.

Think we look a lot better and agile without McGovern, Cincotta and Acres in the team.

Getting experience into HOF, Carroll, Cowan, Young, Moir, Ollie, Lord & White. Should be the priority.

Plus give opportunity if deserved to Charleson, Wilson, HOK and Lemmey. All with good foot skills.

I saw it a few times in the Brisbane Bulldogs game on Friday night - Hipwood and Zorko with two handed volleyball taps, and the Ashcroft brothers split second tap ons to advantage.

I think our boys must’ve been watching that game, not too many got caught holding the ball.

The growth young player s make once they realise they are no longer just trying to keep their spot in the team is huge..
I'd say that not throwing them in before they're ready helps too, something we did in the past, which was detrimental to proper development.

That's why I suggest that we don't need to see Lemmey play seniors this season. Play him next year after he has another pre-season.

We kicked straight. It’s the most underrated stat in the business. When we won loads of games from 2023 to 2024 we kicked more goals than pints points in almost all of those wins. I the games we didn’t we either lost or laboured to a difficult win. For all the shit the talking heads drivel on about to steal a living out of the game it’s really pretty simple. Take your opportunities. Execute your skills. I’ve often said there is very little difference in how all the teams play in terms of game style. The teams that win more often than they don’t tend to execute best.
