Yep, the team feels entirely reliant on Heeney, Grundy and Gulden - with the deputies Warner and Blakey flashing good and bad. Every team is reliant on its top players, but there simply isn't enough reliable support this year.I think it's become apparent that we're pretty top heavy for talent. We have 3 to 4 superstars and some other good A grade players but our bottom 6 are pretty poor.
At the start of last year we had a dream run with injury so those bottom 6 weren't holding us back at all. Towards then end of last year I think showed where we really were (around 3rd to 6th) and we were pretty lucky to get into the grand final.
This year we started with the complete opposite run in regards to injury and a much tougher draw. I think with improvement from a few other sides this year our true position is somewhere around 4th to 7th in the mix with hawks, suns, gws, dogs and Freo.
We're hopefully only 1 good key forward acquisition away from contending but who knows.
Just a little correction, Gulden broke his ankle not done an ACL. But agree with you though, heās been a massive inclusionGulden is the one for me who has transformed the team.
A modern day Greg Williams in terms of reading the play as it unfolds with the foot skills opposed to hand-balling. Prior to the ACL injury, he would have been on the verge to becoming a top 10 player in the game. He's right back in the thick of it again. A big preseason and he has the potential to lift Sydney back to premiership contention (along with Heeney and Chad).

He rolled his ankle in a tackle against the Suns in a pre-season game. Ankles are easier to recover from than knees, but thatās just speaking from experience, could be the same for Errol thoughI was under the impression it was the knee. I wonder if this is better overall than actually doing the knee. He really hasn't missed a beat.
