I wonder if we give Conway 2 more games in the VFL ( touch wood 🪵 he stays injury free ) and we give Stanley a rest for a game or 2..
Stanley's game was okay today, not 💩 but not fantastic
I think the club will just get games into him and nurse him through. Stanley most likely gets a rest Vs North next week. They’re light on for rucks the next few weeks so we might just go with Blicavs and Neale.

I doubt we see anyone else like Edward’s debut. If Conway had 3-4 games under his belt they most likely would’ve played him next week.

😂 Holmes was good at getting the ball, absolutely sh!thouse doing anything with it.
Yes and no. Surprisingly his score involvement and turnover numbers were basically identical to NWM. 800 metres gained, 72% disposal efficiency. A handful of forgettable kicks, but he still drove our game forward appropriately and gave our forwards quick looks. Good game, just a mixed bag and a bit scattergun (common theme lately).

Couldn't be as bad as the shrieking Kelli Underwood.
Like fingernails scratching down a blackboard.
Poor Kelli is a whole other level of shite.

But K Rock need to grab their punter in charge of sound and get it sorted. Wasn’t a great listening experience. The old bloke next to me thought the Chinese had hacked his hearing aid and were messing with him. Probably didn’t help that I told him I couldn’t hear the background noises. Payback for him spraying me with hot jam last year when he attacked a donut

Apparently some young scallywags were a bit too close to the crowd mic.

His kicks i50 often seemed rushed today. Not one of his best games this year.

Maybe outside the ground was different? So much money spent on GMHBA and phone/internet reception is atrocious.
Not a techy, am I mixing up towers? but could have something to do with it this time? That's a shame for a usually great crew.

I think today was the first time Martin felt he could trust his body to go 100% and not hold himself back. There is no doubting his class but he is a hard watch with his injury history, and there is a lot of football to play yet.

He is worth the gamble. We are not good enough to play it safe and pick the next best.

Anyone else listening to the call on K Rock today. Was horrendous with that background noise.

Sounded like they were doing an outside broadcast from the local childcare centre. Very distracting
We're you the one who twittered in about the kids been annoying

Definitey not one of his best, but it wasn't all time bad. At the moment he's having a handful of "head in hands" moments that make the useful stuff easily forgotten. But he did show up unlike last week.
Yep, a 32d/800m as a down game is a pretty good place to be.

Important four points but we can’t win the flag with the back six playing like this. Specifically Stewart and De Koning.

Maybe you can say Stewart is hampered by his knee but regardless we can’t win the flag with his output at this level and De Koning having no defensive impact.

I have been hard on Tom Atkins over the journey but he is in great nick and was sensational today. 17 tackles to get the season record with five H&A games to go. Bravo.
SDK was first game back from shoulder surgery. Give him 3-4 games. The one that bothers me is COs. He will be a 200-250 game player but at the moment he has the body strength of a soggy stick pretzel. If they counted opposition goals he would be close to leading the competition for goal assists.

The biggest “meh” performance of all time
Hardly- we have struggled to beat this Lyon coached team for a while, and 5 goals is a good win. We are not that team which wins games by 10 goals regularly like we have been in flag years, but 12 wins is very good.

I was at the game today and it looked liked Scott was playing around with positional changes. Humphries looked good on the wing.. even Jack Martin had a go on the wing. We had a few skill errors and mucked around with the ball a bit too much at times. Got away with the 4 points and a bit of %.

The umpiring was that bad today!! The 24-17 doesn’t even reflect it.. so many HTB not called or holding our players was overlooked.

Anyways onto next week and hopefully get some of those skill errors ironed out

What do you call an Irish Tagger? Rick O'Shea.

How did your day go with the special access?
Got a 'High 10' from Andrew Bews - love listening to him tell stories and they were different from the last time i got to enjoy this experience

But this is surely the best bet - something special about being able to watch this and a bonus with being permitted to record it. I did find an online video compressor to get to this a size to share, so hopefully the quality is good

That's so cool. Birds eye view!
Didn't know that shield thing was underneath them on the floor- Tv cameras don't show it.

That is surprising. NWM running through the midfield looked unstoppable

I'm wondering if we throw SDK into the ruck, maybe next week against an undermanned North ruck set up just to see if he can get himself into the game and find some touch and confidence as we head towards finals

I’ve rarely seen a bloke get more leeway than him. He has been poor for years now.

I'd like to see Mullin and O'Connor play time through the middle at some stage over the next few weeks as we'll definitely need to consider them in those roles against the best midfields come finals. Surely, Bews will be considered for a return at least as a reliever soon.

Of course stats don't tell the whole story and the eye test showed NWM as better. But he still had 9 turnovers (8 to Holmes) and 9 score involvements (8 to Holmes). Both had 23 effective disposals. Somehow Holmes had decisively better disposal efficiency! NWM had twice as many clearances, but Holmes had more metres gained and rebound 50s.

So yeah, all of that suggests Holmes was pretty good but just had a bunch of frustrating moments that made it feel like hard work.

And of course we are all guilty of judging our own more harshly

One of those moments was severe panic with a dud pass into the pocket in an open forward line. Still, Holmes doesn't do it much, especially when he has the time and space his speed has enabled. Didn't quite gain that sort of advantage today, but we have high expectations. NWM must be their best asset, they'll sign him for zillions.
