Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

A bit rough to attack ONE poster for posting what he believes he knows is right, yet this is what we all do.
Maybe no-one should share, and that would make threads like Bluemour more acceptable for some, or is it some can’t handle being told the opposite to their thinking?
Have I attacked anyone, SurreyBlue?

The Simpsons Hello GIF

We just want rumour discussions.

I can clearly remember one of Corey Durdin's first few games. He and Eddie were sprinting for the same ball 2 on 2, and their opposition was closer. Durdin was closer and was going to tackle, and Eddie unthinking began to close as well; Durds instead pointed, directed Eddie to the second in, so when he tackled and the handpass went to the extra, Eddie pounced on him.
Durdin has been one of my favourites since he arrived. A year under the tutelage of the great Eddie Betts in 2021, and then 2022 was his breakout year. I went and looked at his highlights package from that year, and what a dangerous creative small forward he'd become....even the commentators were singing his praises.

The other thing that was noticable was the exciting and more attacking gamestyle that lent itself to a more open forward half, with the smalls getting more opportunities in less congestion.

Fast forward to 2025, and he's become a shell of the player he was a few years back.....although he's missed a fair bit of footy during that period. I don't believe for a minute though he's lost all of that skill in the space of a couple of years.

IMO we have added layers to the game plan each year which have effectively coached our small forwards like Motlop and Durdin out of the game. Even Fog has become less and less effective each week, after we were singing his praises not that long ago.

It's now reached the point where we're saying let's get rid of Durdin and all of our small forwards and get others in. Right now it's just lambs to the slaughter.

What a difference just a few years can make

It is quite disconcerting not knowing for sure which direction the club will go.

Given its beyond our control we will just have to hope that GW will make the best call.

I

I think we observe and think things that resonate with what we would like to see happen, both visually and things we hear from others.
That’s why discussion with others is so beneficial cos they may have different bias.
Seeing how quickly the GC have come on makes me hopeful we might turn things quickly- with the right people in place.

Yep. Not like things don't change over 6 or 7 months is it?

Some people just have personal agendas. It's that simple

Anyone who has a 'personal agenda' on a forum would have to be a bit of a sad case - forums are just type on a page. This is supposed to be fun - not life or death.

Our small forwards are on a hiding to nothing currently. Must see both Mots and Durds under new coach.

My only wish is that Sam Walsh gets a full pre-season and gets back to his 2021 form.
That is so very critical to our medium term. Jagga Smith and Cody Walker will be “guns” and likely early comers. Peak Walsh adds so much to or midfield and connection. Crippa is clearly encumbered at the moment, but the emphasis on movement and spread has somewhat reduced his impact and exposed his lack of mobility. Hewett is a great soldier, but is also often a hindrance with ball movement. Cerra started the season well, but has fallen away. Voss and Clarke play him defensively where his greatest asset was always ball movement, ideally as first receiver. Lord has a role to play inside, but has largely demanded a spot in the team, but with coaches reluctant to play him inside has been wedged in to less suitable roles.

Williams is finally doing some of what he was traded to do in that he is playing more midfield. The kicker is that he is by far our most creative small forward and as Father Time marches on, surely is better deployed forward of centre as his prime role. Motlop has amazingly deployed regularly in the midfield of late, he hasn’t been devoid of positives, but very much outweighed by negatives in my opinion. Ben Camporeale will absolutely play a role in our engine room at some stage, but it is going to be difficult to fit him in for the foreseeable future.

Walsh has huge value hunting the ball and providing linkage around the ground. He is one of the best ground ball players in the game. If his body remains “fragile” surely we give him a little protection and deploy him off a wing to reduce some of the inside crash and bash. We are better served by Walshy playing 20 games off a wing than half a dozen in the middle.

I know the salary cap has increased and we don't really want to lose him... but taking the name and guernsey number out of it, that seems like a lot of years and $ for a guy who has played 20 games in a season twice in his career and is turning 28 in December.
There is an element of this, but let’s not forget his impact down back. He was phenomenal and his output was superior to some key defenders who have recently change clubs with not much change from seven figure salaries.

He has missed some games, both the ACL and lesser injuries, but in a period where the culture and fabric of the club has been questioned, it would seem massively counterproductive to remove a generational link who has performed when available.

Players playing in their most appropriate positions? Being rotated and looked after long term? Held to a standard ? Looked at in terms of what do you do well instead of how do we hide the weakness?

Wtf kind of nonsense is that? Only shit clubs like Collingwood think that way.

We are carlton. **** the rest.
