No real negatives, but one point of interest remains the last 4 spots in the best 23, currently occupied by Taylor, Pedlar, Cook and Jones. All fairly quiet tonight, as they are pretty much every week. The first 19 are locks now I think, including Berry who has secured that spot.

One spot obviously goes to Cumming and another to Rachele when he is back, and I think Taylor has the third spot at the moment. But there’s still one up for grabs, plus Rachele is a little ways off.

Would like to see one of those guys have a big game and lock down the spot before finals. I’m also wondering if part of the motivation for recalling Jones was to have him be the specialist sub for the rest of the year, given his pace and versatility. If so that could mean Pedlar and Cook are the ones who miss out, unless they can take the opportunity to push Taylor out.

How far away is Crouch? probably take up that spot.

Crouch, Rachele, Cumming, and the last spot will probably be a week by week proposition depending on form. But the boys cracked in tonight which means its been told to them that a spot to play finals is on the line.

Think he’s learnt he has been able to create an attacking team that needed to get better defensively to get anywhere

Seems to have nailed it 🎯
Think he realised the club has loaded up his forward line, if they kick goals we have less scored against us.

When we go slow we give the opposition more time to defend and counter, do you disagree?

We were always scoring goals but getting easily scored against

Now with lots of hard work and buy in we are scoring goals and not conceding

As we know the best defences normally feature at pointy end , if you can score as well you’re a massive shot

We never had as much of an issue with the later

Nah, an experienced player is a must in finals. Better than a Cook or Jones. That extra mid will pay off.

No it isn't. No it won't.

If you had the opportunity (and I get you live somewhere else...you've never said) but I watched the game today and he had no hurt factor, jogged about and the opposition (at that level) played through him when they were rebounding.

I get he is coming back from injury but he is NOT Afl quality.

Be honest now, has the major complaint of me and others been when we’ve gone too slow and defensive rather than keep attacking to our lethal forward line?

When you admit the answer is yet, maybe you understand what I’ve been on about

From 2000 to 2017 there was a 34 game stretch where the Power led (or were level) in the Showdown head to head. Do we sometimes forget that? A 34 game stretch where they led (or were level in) the head to head.

We now have won the last 5 and lead by 2 games, 30-28.

On 39 occasions they have led the head to head and we have only led 9 times.
